Not Rockets related, but on a side note ... Anybody know why Raptors want to move OG? I assumed he and Barnes would become an outstanding 2way F duo for them the next 5+ years Is the fit together not working? Are they hesitant to give OG a big extension? I thought his game was developing quite nicely, but haven't seen many TOR games this season
They're a borderline playoff team as currently constructed... The current construction is extremely guard and wing heavy so I'm sure them trying to shore up their frontcourt talent/depth is the reason OG is expendable, especially now that Siakam is back and healthy. Barnes being everything they envisioned him bringing to the table definitely hurt OG's chances of getting extended in TOR. Their current NBA standing in the ranks plus them being a near top 10 team in terms of total salary doesn't bode well for a guy with value like OG. I'd love to take them off their hands but Wood may not be as enticing as a guy like Sabonis or Turner. At least not without a 1st rounder or two to tack onto the price tag.
Thanks Seems like their glaring hole is at C Unless they're oblivious to his recent antics, can't see any smart organization trading or our turd Wood But yes, OG is exactly the 3&D wing with length this squad desperately lacks I like him even more than Reddish If the price is similar, I hope Stone gets super aggressive
It would be crazy if the Rockets baled at a Wood trade because they were unwilling to add a FRP. He's locked in for 4 years, the same amount of time you would get from someone with that pick, and you get a polished player that would pay immediate dividends.
From Zac Lowe's article: The Brooklyn Nets never showed interest in swapping Mikal Bridges for that Simons/No. 3 package, sources said; it's unclear if the teams discussed it. The Miami Heat chuckled at Portland potentially asking about Bam Adebayo. The Nets - absolutely should have done this! Simons helps keep them from totally bottoming out this year since the rockets own their pick, plus, a potential franchise player in Scoot who was allegedly #1 overall potential means that you already have a key piece of the rebuild in place and you can build around 19 year old Scoot instead of 27 year old Bridges on a big contract. If that was offered, they should have taken it. As is they're a 30-40 win crew of role players looking for a star who can be matched to Simmons contract. I mean, I guess its possible they land a Towns or whatever but not likely. .
I agree. They may have even been able to get Portland to throw in some future picks. It was, at the very least, worth seriously exploring.
Yeah, I probably would have traded Simmons and #3 for Bridges. If they value him that highly, we probably should forego any notion of trading for him.
I'd trade Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks for OG Anunoby. Give OG an extension of $60 million per year for two years. As smart as the deal we gave FVv and Brooks Apache, we had to spend the money!! Apache. the contracts are short term!!
Why would the Raptors want FVV, they didn't sign him. Also Raptors is asking 4 first round picks or something for OG, so you aren't making sense
