For a max? This is a guy who has never posted an above average PER and can't rebound. He's doing well because he has all-world teammates. He would be a huge bust.

Exactly how I picture the summer going. I think it's possible that we overpay to get Howard back one everything fails though. IMO Rockets need to outright sign one of (Conley, Gasol, Horford, Howard, Whiteside) FIRST, and then go after Durant. That way whatever happens we will have one impact player signed. And if Durant signs else where, we can just pursue another one of the players we originally met with that had interest + (Barnes, Batum, Parsons).
The problem is that we actually HAVEN'T signed catch and shoot guys to pair with Harden. We have no pure shooters on this team.

Durant for obvious reasons. I'd like Gasol. He can shoot mid range which is what we've been missing from our bigs. He also has championship experience.
Miss out signing all the players we have a realistic chance of getting, while waiting for Durant to make a decision where he goes. Durant probably ends up staying in OKC and by the time he makes his choice all the other quality free agents will have already signed with other teams.
