Why is everyone so confident that a Rondo + Harden pairing would work?

Living in Dallas, I am rooting for the Rockets to poach Dallas roster of solid veterans. I would be happy wit Vince Carter, Marion, or Devin Harris. Since this is a PG thread, I think Devin Harris would be a good backup for this team. He can't shoot all that great but is still an effective two player and showed up in the playoffs unlike our PG's. I would only do it if it was for cheap but I like the way he competes. Lowry would be my first option and then I would try my hand with Harris on the cheap or another two-way point guard if they exist in today's NBA.

We need an elite PG, or an elite defensive PG.
Currently we have neither. I don't think Bev is a starting caliber PG for a champ team.
Rondo fits both of those roles. Nba is a PG driven league. Look at all the teams in the west still in the playoffs.
    WE NEED RONDO!

Lowry has said he would gladly play for McHale, that his immaturity causes problems last time.

The Raptors have to decide if they are rebuilding or not.

I was wondering when someone would mention Bradley.

I was very interested until the emergence of Beverley.

The drawbacks are that Bradley is limited offensively as a starting PG in the West

    He is injury prone

He already turned down 3/21 million from the Celtics, wanting 3/30 million

Bradley is about as good a defensive PG as you will find but we need more than that

No PG would blossom without the ball period.

Bev is a backup and lin is a backup...we cant win anything without a viable point guard and power forward. Thats the strongest positions in the NBA..thats our weakest thats why we lose

I disagree with those who say a pg can't play with harden. A strong willed commander will make harden run up the floor and get in the play. When you have weak willed pgs, harden goes to the ball and they give it to him. That's part of why this team sucked at situational hoops. You don't shoot the same shot in the 1st qt up by 10 as you do when a team is making a run at you. That's why a pg who understands flow and control is vital. I would love to have rondo or lowry because that's what they do best. Also like vazquez who seems to produce all the time. Another option might be a guy like ty lawson coming off injury. He a shaw wasn't on best of terms .

you don't win NBA championships with those "elite PGs"

rather have a quality 2,3, and 5 than a 1. we just need someone who isn't absolutely useless on offense, and can play above average defense

Mills for San Antonio, and a younger guy in Schroeder are good fits. To say Houston does not need an upgrade at point guard is silly. The pg does not have to be our best player, but they do need to be our leader on the floor and that's my only slight reservation with Bradley. Ideally at this position you want someone who has won as well, so for me Mills should be a main target. If we can get Schroeder though you have to, he is just more talented NOW than most point guards mentioned. Jarret Jack may also be an option here a leader that has play-off experience

Bradley improved a lot offensively this past season, and he's a good 3pt shooter. He's the type of player we wanted Jeremy Lin to be, and he's a much better defender. He's a perfect fit for our roster.

Wasn't it a 4/24 million deal? And the "injury prone" label could bring the price down.

This doesn't make sense. We have Harden and Howard. If we're relying on our pg to be the leader on the floor, then we're never going to win. Either Howard or Harden need to step up and lead.
