What the hell do we need a big for? We have a guy named Yao Ming who plays center and we have a guy named Dikembe behind him. We have a good set of power forwards, Chuck Hayes is ben wallace-lite, Juwan is a guy who will come off the bench and start hitting his mid-range jumpers, and another guy who is also young, Steve Novak, will be a future for the Rockets.
Well if you think Head's stock is so high why not add Head and Vspan for May and Hermann who might also lose rotation minutes if they draft a Horford, or Noah... Or i would accept a sign and trade with Carroll...
We are NOT TRADING LUTHER HEAD, you are almost as dumb as the guy who said that we should trade Tracy McGrady because he lacked heart, bullcrap, Luther Head is a piece to our puzzle.
Chuck Hayes is a great player but he should be coming off the bench. Until we get resonable size at the 4 the elite teams in the west will provide us match up problems. Mutombo has 1 year left, Juwon Howard isn't getting any younger, and i'd put more faith in May who has seen the court rather than Novak who hasn't. I love chuck Hayes, but i dont think he is a long term solution as the starting 4, not at his size, not defensively. I'd take May or Scola in a heartbeat, a heartbeat, i'd trade this year's first round pick for Scola.
What the hell is with you taking all these unproven bigs? We are already weak at point guard, and your trying to stack powerforwards into our rotation. And yes, Chuck Hayes is starters material, he is someone who can get way open in the post and make layups, nobody else can do that, he also grabs huge offensive rebounds at 6'6, he also plays DEFENCE.
please dont compare asking for luther head in a trade to be the same as Tmac, there is a huge difference there, Yes luther head is a piece, a shooter, undersized 2 guard. who can't play the point. His contract will also be up in a couple years and i dont think he will be worth what he will demand because how well he fits in the rotation with his excellent shooting and the massive number of double teams the team sees. Because of Luther Head's size his cieling is limited unless he develops point guard skills, which i have not seen this season. Getting a decent 4 who has size, and some ability might be worth more than what head provides. Finding another undersiZed 2 guard with a jump shot isn't has hard to replace. its the smart move because our bench is weak.
Hayes is nice, but we'd be terrible without Juwon. We'd be terrible without Hayes too...basically our PF's complement each other, but Juwon is old and not going to get better. You're always looking to improve and there's not much one can improve on at the center position with Yao, Deke, and Jake...and the wings are set with T-Mac, Battier, and Snyder. Novak has a chance to get minutes depending on how he bulks up...but the PF's and PG's are out 2 weakest areas. Head brings a lot to the table, but he's not untouchable. Everyone loves his shooting and so do I...I'm only saying that if we lose Head, we must replace his shooting...and it's not the end of the world to lose Head if we are upgrading the PF position with May who is a diamond in the rough imo. Once Deke is gone, we'll still have Jake...but once Jho is gone are the Rockets future PFs going to be Hayes and Novak?
Learning how to dribble isn't difficult, its called using a tennis ball or practicing with 2 basketballs at the same time, I practiced it and I get ripped every once in a while, Luther Head is also a hard worker if you haven't known, he knew he would get open when he first was with the Rockets, so he went out and practiced his 3 point shot, and look at him now 44%, Luther is a hard worker.
Hayes is a decent piece, if you put chuck hayes on a team like golden state he would do next to nothing. He survives because Tmac and Yao dominate the offense so much, he gets left open continously and he can finish. Asking a PF to be able to finish isn't asking too much, i'm sure someone like Louis Scola or Sean May could finish at around the same clip as Hayes, not to mention that a good 60% of his points come directly from Tmac created plays, which is more an effect of Tmac and positioning than Hayes ability. Yes his rebounding is very crucial and clutch and we might lose alot of rebounding rate, but he would be coming off the bench he could still play important possesions and would give our bench more punch. Sorry but Hayes is a creation of good timing, and need. he wouldn't start for 25 other teams
I am not only talking about layups, could Luis Scola and Sean May, get steals, blocks and offensive rebounds like Hayes, even with Hayes being undersized, speed comes with that, and Chuck Hayes has speed.
Chuck Hayes makes our team semi-fast. We'd be slow with Mays. We're not trading Luther unless we get Andre Miller or J.R. Smith or something...
Hayes has some speed, but he isn't outpacing some of the top guys, and to get to that level where we are competing for a championship we will have to go through duncan, dirk, amare and i havn't seen the defense on those guys, although the one thing i am happy about is he did a decent job on Okur and boozer, I love chuck hayes dont get me wrong, i just dont see him as the starting 4 for a championship team
So how is getting fata5s Sean Mays going to solve the Phoenix problem? Two laps down court against Amare and he'd be barfing donuts. What we really need is a guy like Stromile Swift, except with Chuck Hayes' brain.
Even though Chuck Hayes is our PF, doesn't mean he will be guarding other PFs, if you actually watch, Duncan and Amare would be defended by Yao, Dirk would be defended by T-Mac or Shane Battier.
and watch a duncan and Amare led team go past the rockets because Yao is too tired pulling double duty.
How much money do we have to spend next year? It is definitely possible that Garnett opts out of his contract. If not, get Jamaal Magloire.
