I wish Carlos the best of luck as a Met. I hope he carries the torch that's left by past Mets including Bobby Bonilla, Mo Vaughn, Roberto Alomar and the like
the only disclaimer on Mags is that he recently had back surgery. Of course a team would double check on his health record but still...something to be wary about.
What a greedy b*stard! Now we all know that he is all about the money and doesn't give a hot about winning. If he did, he wouldn't be going to the Mets. Right now, I can only think of one other person associated with sports that I hate more than Beltran and that guy is Dr. John "Moron" McMullen. If you are a true Astros fan, you know why I hate that man.
I too wish I knew the sticking point. Someone earlier suggested deferred money maybe? I'd hope it wouldnt be something like that but who knows. Just trying to think of last minute details you'd have to work out and that seems like something that could be one of them. Don't know the contract offer details and might not ever. Just pure speculation, since deferred money seems to come up in a lot of contract discussions. In the end it was Carlos who made the decision not Boras etc. We werent able to talk to him face to face since Dec 22? If Carlos wanted us to he could have told Boras that. All along I said I couldn't blame Carlos if he signed with a better team for more money. The Yankees are the team I had in mind when I said that.
Well if he went to the Mets, than i have nobody to blame but Beltran himself Screw you beltran, SCREW YOU
The sticking point is deferred money. Every bigtime contract that like Pettitte and Bagwell have had deferred money be a large part of the contract. If the Astros really did offer $105 million while the Mets offered $112 million, the Mets might have offered a contract without deferred money. I think this deferred money is at some very low interest rate. The present value of the Astros contract might be only $90 million.
Oh well .. some players you have a special place for in your heart. I don't think Beltran can be that for me now. Even though he had that postseason. oh well. life goes on
I think it's deferred money. Beltran probably would still be getting payments on this contract on his deathbed.
Drayton has deferred money in almost every single contract. Probably because he doesn't plan on owning the team in a few years. I still think he is an absolute liar saying he lost money last season. If I worked for the IRS I might just audit that guy.
Listening to Matt point out how the Atros weren't "permited" to talk to Beltran while the Mets get to fly down to his house should give people a better idea of how much Boras controls everything. F*ck that that b*stard, I'm gonna sh*t on his grave some day.
oski. if Beltran wanted us to talk to him he could have told Boras that. Beltran hired Boras.. it's on him.
