I think we should let all this die down a little after a few days... then all the 'new' fans that latched on in the playoffs, and throughout this Beltran chaos will be long gone, and we'll be back to the diehard Astros fans who've followed this team throughout. I can't say this doesn't hurt, but I also am a big fan of moneyball... and the fact that there are some younger prospects that interest me greatly (T. Patton, Einertson, and the future high draft picks we'll get from the Mets).
what did you exactly expect from that era? i expected us to replenish our roster with young players while still keeping our own HOF around. instead of rebuilding and wrecking a team like chicago did, we did a fine transition. i much rather have our underachieving team that we have right now then the one in chicago. you can't always be championship bound. you take your bumps and bruises before things panned out. tell me where you live because, quite frankly, it sounds like a place with no realism.
I'd approach Magglio Ordonex about signing a one year deal, too. He's been a consistently good hitter the last 5 years. Pitching needs to be a priority, too. Without pitching, you can't win.
Yea, and you remember how much winning we did once the Francis era started The Rockets have been crap for several years. Nowhere close to having a shot at winning it all.
This has not been a good year to be a Houston sports fan . . . Texans lose their chance to be 8-8 Astros lose Carlos Beltran Rockets . . . yeah . . .
Taveras isn't ready. He needs to work on his swing. He has good eye hand coordination, but he needs a smoother swing to prevent being overpowered. I definitely want Burke starting. He'll have some growing pains, but he can be Biggio 1994. Lane is a good OF. Ensberg needs to step up. Ausmus needs to be upgraded with the loss of offense.
Man this whole article makes me want to cry, but makes me love my city more. Houston is the best damn city in the world!!!!
O well, time to start over again... and resign berkman and oswalt to long term contracts. Guess Carlos wanted more money after all, even if it meant going to a losing team That Boras is a son of a b****
Well, the playoffs were magical, I will never forget them. I'm disappointed, but Beltran came from nowhere, maybe there is another "home-grown" Berkman kind of player in the system out there, somewhere. And what if Beltran never recaptures the 04 playoffs magic? What if that was the hot streak of all hot streaks? Then we are all going to be glad the Astros didn't sell out their future for one player. Just a thought. Right now, however, I'm really bummed out. I am going to bed.
C'mon guys, we're Astros fans, not Beltran fans. I am really dissapointed and not very happy with this situation but life goes on. I personally thought this was a done deal but well, whatever. I see all this negativity and it just isn't right. I personally don't believe in the whole ran out of time thing, but i think it was Boras who is to blame not just our GM. I peronally would like to see what Lane can do. He has 20 plus HR potential in my opinion so will see. /I was more dissapointed in the Boki deal.
