Just so everyone knows... we've got MAtt Jackson manning the board and getting ready to do a live show pending the press conference. We have Dave Harbison and Jeremy Foster on site at Minute Maid connectd and ready to roll. We will be doing fan reaction and live coverage as late as we need to. Incidentally all indications are this looks like it will be the greatest night in Astros history. Chance For those who don't know what I am talking about just put it on 610 AM. Signal sucks north of 1960. Sorry.
ESPN: "WE talked to an executive, who believes ...really believes Beltran is heading back to houston. Because Boras is failing to bring the Yankees back into the mix. Because he is trying to get the yankees involved Boras is obviously showing he is upset with the reality of Beltran going to Houston . This makes the executive feel that he is headed to houston. "
Here comes Buster... Bore Us is talking to the spankees because he "doesn't feel comfortable" with Beltran going to the mets.
This from Mets.com forum - Beltran update Again, take this for what it's worth but it is indeed an interesting piece. It came directly from Mets.com forum. No sources, so read into it what you will... This is off of the Houston MB and comes from a credible source: Rumor is that the 'stros have ended negotiations about 30 minutes ago with Boras, b/c Boras is demanding a guaranteed 7th yr and an option for an 8th, saying his client will take no less. However, once told, Beltran wasn't happy, and told Boras to get a deal done. Word it that he will sign with the 'stros by the midnight(et) deadline. The few sticking points are: 1) Boras wants a signing bonus of $8m; after Jan 12, the irs can tax bonuses. Before then, they can't. The 'stros (Drayton) says he can't afford the signing bonus on top of the annual 15.5m (new offer of 7/115 has sprung up, before negotiations were halted). 2) Boras wants a no trade clause. Astros are offering a 5 team selection. 3) Boras wants an automatic trigger clause that if the 'stros finish under .500 for two consecutive seasons, will automatically trigger a $17m 8th year. I am told that Beltran is in fact in Houston. He got a connecting flight from Chicago after meetings there turned sour. He's said to want to be close to the negotiations, not trusting Boras entirely. The Mets haven't upped their offer, and waiting for the deadline to end. They believe his heart is in Houston. Still no news from the Yanks, who will enter the sweepstakes if he doesn't sign tonight, or if the Mets get more aggressive this evening. Some of you will want links that I don't have to substantiate these rumors, but I don't have them. We'll know anyway in just a few hours. Found this on another forum..... Get Rodger on the phone to Beltran!
Haha, kind of hard to tell judging by monikers. You can email me through the board with more info if you want. I don't have too many cousins and I'm pretty sure none of them are on this board, but hey...who knows?
