bastards on fox news houston i almost freaked out... They bust in we have a breaking news... so you think its beltran a train wrecked and is leaking peroxide
does the actual contract have to be signed etc by 11pm.. as in Carlos has to be in Houston and everything had to be signed and submitted.. or just agreed to?
Actual contract does not have to be signed... its just a matter of Boras calling the union, and the Astros informing MLB. (from today's chronicle article)
This is kind of like new years eve, except better. I'm ready for the countdown [5 hrs, 22 mins left...]
hmm suppose the Carlos Beltran Update on espnews is just the recycled update for the last 10 espn new's broadcasts but will be watching anyway lol
I'm counting on you guys to post news in this thread as soon as it appears. Refresh. Refresh. Refresh. Refresh.
wasn't much of an update although it was new , since the anchor that was talking to buster said 3 hours and 20 minutes to go. basically talked about - mets could offer $10 to $15 mill more for the astros - talked about if beltran had a strong enough personality to make the decision on his own instead of boras (like maddux signing with atl instead of nyy 10 years ago) - believes beltran will end up as an astro
Olney said it has bascially come down to that the source said he is more comfortable in houston than with the Mets. Also noted it wouldnt be the 1st time a bigtime boras client took comfort over money (Maddux to atl instead of NYY and Bernie stayed in NYY and didnt go to boston)
Also said Boras was STILL calling the Yanks today but got dissed again....and that while Boras thinks that there may be more offers after the deadline passes, as long as carlos is a big enuf man to say, " Im more comfy in houston", then he will end up with us
he got dissed by the Yanks because they know Beltran has made up his mind to go to Houston and that Boras wants the Yanks to make an offer to try to get the Astros to raise.
I wonder if Boras honestly thought he could get $200 million for Beltran. If so, it's been a frustrating offseason for the poor guy.
this is killing me. Every bar in nyc is going to be showing the JETS so no espn updates until that game ends. I'll be on my phone every 30 minutes calling htown
He got it with A-Rod. But this time around, there are no owners like Tom Hicks to bend over and bid against themselves until their bid is twice the size of the closest competition.
