I was trying not to get my hopes up on this. But the GARM is full of Yao conspiracies, so count me in on hoping he signs here.
I love Houston but it isn't all that great either. I think he would like to go to Chicago because of Wrigley field, great baseball town, and they also have a great chance to win for a long time with that great young pitching staff and other young stars like Lee, Ramirez, and Patterson.
The only thing I can even possibly think of is that he was a monster every time we played in Wrigley, and for some reason at MMP he did not have hist best runs during the regular season. I would think that he would realize that it is going to turn around and over the long run, he'll hit just as well at MMP as he would at Wrigley. Other than that, I can't believe he'd want to go to the Scrubs ahead of the Stros.
I remember Beltran commenting, during the regular season, how great it would be to play at Wrigley. This while the Astros were playing in Chicago, and to a Chicago reporter IIRC. He was very complimentary of the park, the fans, and the town. I remember way back then fearing he'd sign with Chicago. Here's hoping tomorrow night 11PM brings good news!
Yea, but when he was hitting great at Wrigley he was facing Cubs pitching. That won't be the case if he signs with them.
Ugh. My source had to leave, so he told me he would have a conversation with his source tonight and call me on my cell. (He needed to talk to this person, anyway.) I was really hoping to have some concrete info by now, so I apologize for leading everyone on. Rest assured, when I found out something, I'll post it. Yes, this is killing me, too.
yet, we've also heard his wife doesn't want to live in a cold-weather climate. who knows!!?? too much information, probably.
If you EVER start a post in this thread starting with the word "UGH"...I will hunt you down and do something really bad
