if you were Doc Rocket I would take that to mean that Carlos is already here...but you're not...and he's not....not that I want to see this guy Chance naked...ever...but you get my drift
This is what my source knows at this moment: 1) It's between the Mets and Astros. The Cubs and Yankees are still in it, but right now, those two teams are obviously at the top. Why? See #2. 2) The Cubs, AFAIK, have not made an offer at all. Neither have the Yankees. However, the Cubs are still the #1 choice (as reported earlier). If they can somehow meet Houston's offer, Beltran would prefer to sign there. (Don't know why.) 3) The Mets are in the race only because of the money on the table. Beltran and his wife really do like Houston and would be willing to sacrifice millions to stay there (source's language, not mine...). Therefore, Beltran is indeed leaning towards Houston over the Mets. I know a lot of this is "DUH" information, but it is what it is. Keep in mind, too, that anything can change. The Yankees are rumored to be mulling over a possible HUGE 3-year deal (completely unconfirmed) that could change everything in BeltranWatch 2004-05. But it's just a rumor. We're gonna put a call in to a VERY reliable source (no, not Beltran himself) a little later and get the latest info. (We tried to call just now, but we got the person in question's machine. Hopefully, they'll be there when we call back. )
That is far from DUH info......thanks for the good update....can't wit until the a-hole you called is off the phone
I think it's 7/100 with an eighth year option or a 2 mill buy out. That's what 790am and 740am have said. I think that is what fox26 said too.
If the money is even from the Cubs he would rather go there? That would be every Astros fan's worst nightmare right there.
Good stuff, VesceySux, keep us posted. I don't think the Cubs will pony up that kind of cash, I don't think Beltran wants 3 years, so it's all good news to me.
Haha... Hey Stack....are you gonna be at Live tonight? Was thinking about coming up there to watch the Rox game.
Well, that is probably it for today. Tomorrow will be a long day of checking updates on my cell phone while returning all of the crappy christmas gifts I got.
thats unbelievable to me but so be it...assuming the Cubs know this, you can bet this thing will go to the deadline with the Cubs trying to dish off Sosa and his salary
vecsey's source is the only one i've ever heard say that. everyone else...literally everyone else...says his first choice is to stay in houston, assuming all other things are equal.
The feeling I am getting is that as long as the Mets don't do something crazy, like up their offer to 120-125 million or so...I think he just might stay!
Yeah i am going up there right now...ill be there watching the game and playing a bit of poker....so see ya there.
