no. it aint over. purpura very carefully said that the offer on the table is our last offer. He never said it was the same offer as previouslly extended. He never said that the stros never increased their original offer. we don't know squat. still.
bah was just walking by when mom was watching fox lol just about to post well I tell ya though.... beltran (moreover, boras) has his coveted $100 million contract.... only thing we can do is wait I just can't see beltran going to the mets with a offer that nearly matchs that 105,112 figure that they are throwing around....
Oh yeah baby. Good offer. Well designed. Hits the 100MM mark, which likely appeases the Boras PR beast. Still averages 14.2 MM per year, which is a good number. I'll accept the risk of the extra years to enjoy Beltran in his prime. Drayton, if we get Beltran, I'm gettin season tix. watching that guy is worth the price of admission.
Wow! VERY VERY GLAD Drayton stepped up to the plate with the money. If Beltran rejects the 7/100 offer, I'll have no problem with the Astros not getting him. Quite frankly, I don't think he's even worth this much. The only reason Beltran can get 100+ mil is because you usually have to overpay for premium talent. In this case, the 2 added years at the end at the going rate of this past season's performance. If people thought Baggie's contract is killing us financially now, wait til Beltran in the last years of his contract. The extra years is a decent price to pay for someone of his caliber. But if Beltran wants more, then it's simply "Thanks for the memories, and good luck in the future."
I'll have to agree at this point. Even though I wouldn't be upset if Drayton paid up to $17/mil a year or so, I think you have to give McLane credit for his effort. Of course, we are talking about Houston Astros' fans here...
Wow, I'm glad Drayton is offering that much for Beltran, but I just don't think 7 years and $100 mil is worth it.
The effort to get Beltran by Drayton has been great. I applaud him for his actions taken to try and secure this star. I too agree, if the 100mil is not enough let him go else where. I hope it's enough to make him stay. The ball park was amazing last season, and I would love to be back in that atmosphere again this season. Man, I just can't wait. Go Stros!

wow berman just said its 7 year 100mil with a club option for an 8th year at 14 mil... if we do not pick it up we pay him 2 mil
Yeah...I'm getting the same kind of giddiness thinking about signing Beltran long term and making another run next year!!!
No, I mean the hilarious video (flash or mpeg?) making fun of the whole "are your base are belong to us" thing.
