Add a shooter who is actually an NBA talent (sorry Novak) Add a big man with some athletic ability and a mean streak Guys who can walk out the door for all I care: Novak Head Francis Guys with value who I wouldn't mind trading for the right pieces: Rafer Battier Landry Hayes Brooks (although he is the toughest one to let go IMO) Tmac is untradeable, Yao of course stays and Scola has a place on this team. Everyone else is expendable.
im pulling stuff out of my azz now... sign and trade marion for t-mac, sign and trade battier, alston and maybe pick for artest. hope and pray we have francis come back healthy and have him bjax and brooks rotate at point. Or Perhaps we can get someone like duhon? Lose depth though =( C: Yao PF: Scola SF:Marion SG:Artest PG:The big ? Geez what are we gonna do guys? Are we really gonna have to wait for T-Mac's huge contract to end along with battier and alston? This really sucks....
Dont care if they leave -Head -Novak We should go after... - PG Jose Calderon (even though hes restricted) - Mikael Pietrus (can play center) As for the season, its not over yet
U add Artest with yao and tracy, u opened ur window longer. plus if u sign artest and tracy deal expires, u still have enough talent to attract james. Bottomline, should have drafted gay.
If they stand pat, they'll be another 1st round exit. IMHO, there is no single-source failure point. They're just too slow, too short, too unathletic. And too injured. Throw in too one-dimensional. The "who" is far less important than the "what". The "what" being players without the above mentioned short comings. My perfect summer would be a tall, athletic PG/SG or C/PF in the draft followed by moving BOTH Alston and Battier. Mikeal Pietrus with whatever it takes of an MLE or SnT.
He can not play the PF spot...he is a SF/SG.....nothing else though I would take him in a heart beat.....no more small SG/SFs...especially if Harris can improve his jumper. I would also be with Gater in trading Battier if you can get something like Mike Miller.....or another player who can create his own shot....as well as for others. DD
I think the Rockets have enough to contend. The real issue is Yao and all is injuries. He is simply not built for 82 games, regardless of whether he plays 20, 30 or 40 minutes a game. I think something drastic needs to be done here... like maybe intentionally benching him for the first 30 games of the season. I think that more than anything else will help the Rockets contend next post season.
Nothing like being down 2-0 in the playoffs to get fans working on the offseason. It feels like summer around here. Is the draft next week? Can the Rockets still get in the lottery? Why not?
A PG that can consistently hit open jumpers (ala D.Fisher) would do wonders for this team. It's no surprise that we were kicking butt when Rafer was actually hitting shots.
I give it one more year with TMac/Yao. I just refuse to believe that those 2 guys can't play together for >85% of the season. We'd be a 60-win team this year if Yao hadn't gone down, and we'd be kicking the crap out of the Nuggets right now. My number one priority in the offseason is getting rid of Luther Head. Someone's gotta be dumb enough to take him. Still, let's wait till this season is over first.
It would certainly be nice, but unless you're talking Yao, I can't see any way. Which team in the lottery would trade the #1 or #2 pick in the draft for what we have? To trade up to one of those spots will be extremely difficult, but it's almost required to have a lottery pick of your own to include in the deal.
Once again the Rockets play their 2 best starters heavy minutes, and once again they go down with injuries. The other players on the team seem to be unable to play off them (unless they're gone) and they just stand there watching them do their thing, which has forced RA and JVG to keep Yao and TMac playing. I see a pattern here. The offseason should be a true evaluation on blowing up the core. How much they can get, and how deep they can pilfer from FA and the draft to put a temporary pause on the ensuing talent gap. We won't get equal trades, but hopefully, we'll trade for reliable talent that we can grow, improve, and come to rely. I'm sick of this Yao playing with the CNT bull****. I'm sick of Tracy's bad back bull****.
Here are my moves of rthe summer: -Battier + Hayes + Francis + Future Pick for Maggette(S&T $10mil) -B Jax + Novak + Head + Pick for Mike Miller -B Jax would eventually get waived and we can re-sign him -Sign Landry and Green with MLE Yao/Woods/(LLE) Scola/Landry/Harris Miller/Maggette T-Mac/Green Rafer/Brooks/Bobby Flame away...
