Did I mention we need to get Ron Artest and its actually quite realistic?

Sacramento is rebuilding...lets give them Aaron Brooks, since the Kings are high on him.

    My unrealistic proposal

Resign Landry and sign Pietrus using MLE and whatever
    Shane Battier for Jose Calderon
Bobby Jackson + Brooks + first rounder for Ron Artest
    Head for Mihm

    Lineup
    Yao/Mihm
    Scola/Landry
    Artest/Pietrus
    TMac/Francis
    Calderon/Alston

    I can only be dreaming....

Head for Mihm is about as bad as it gets for Head. Chris freaking Mihm. I would take a 63 year old Mutombo of Chris Mihm.

Before you guys try to dump Luther Head's $1.1 million salary, consider this. Luther head did not think he was good enough to compete in the playoffs. What do you think Head is doing every day until the season starts? He is busting his ass off, improving as much as he can, because he thinks he is not good enough. He does want to sign a second NBA contract, and not some LLE.

The Jazz aren't a good matchup for a player like Head who lacks size, but can knock down 3's. I do believe he will be ready to stick it to them if we meet them again next year.

I'm just going to ignore the rest of your posts about how much Head sucks, and that we should trade him for this scrub or that scrub. I'm just happy none of you guys aren't running the team.

I'm not very high on Head right now either, but Chris mihm? Really? I'd take a second round draft pick instead.

The Rockets don't need drastic changes. They have a good core that continues to grow together. However, the Rockets still need a backup C, a starting point guard--I'd rather see Rafer come off the bench, and a wingman who can hit the three consistently--Miller would be a great fit since he can slide over to the two but sadly I don't see him coming over. Also, the entire team needs to work on their free throws.

The Rockets don't need to go nuts on the free agent market. This past season, they were okay but forgot to cross their fingers on injuries and it ended up hurting our main guy. The core I believe should stay intact with a few tweaks. Basically we just need insurance for injuries to our important players.

    Staying no matter what:
    Tmac,Yao,Landry,Scola,Alston,Deke,Battier,Stevie

    You guys can go:
    Bobby Jackson,Chuck Hayes,Luther Head,maybe Brooks/Novak

Right now the only position I believe we have on lock is the PF position with Scola/Landry. These rooks are good and are only going to get better with time. The center position with Yao/Deke should also be a position that doesn't need change, just insurance. In an earlier post I said they need to bring back Kelvin Cato. That is a motivated,in shape Cato. His best years were in Houston when he was backing up Yao.

McGrady is always iffy because of his injuries,if Francis was alright and Bonzi stayed, I wouldn't give a damn if he broke his neck, we'd fare well without him. Francis and Bonzi would play at the top of their games and make up for the loss. Unlike a lot of negative people, I believe Francis will be rejuvenated, injury free and ready to contribute substantially for the team next season which is another reason we shouldn't be so desperate for major offseason deals. Francis, I believe, will eventually outplay and out compete Alston and take the starting job. Minor tweaks is all we need.

    My Lineup
Yao/Deke/Cato (Cato I believe will eventually take Deke's mins)
    Scola/Landry
Battier/Novak (Better improve or he's gone)
    T-Mac/Head (see Novak)
    Francis/Alston/Brooks

If we're going to get anyone, it'd be getting rid of Hayes/Jackson for Pietrus. Pietrus can be inserted either behind Battier or Mac, making either Head or Novak third string. Now that's a team right there. Like I said minor changes is all we need and to cross our fingers and pray for no major injuries.

Is a sign and trade for Elton Brand possible/realistic?

Of all the "splash" moves, that is the one I think about the most. I don't really think that it is very likely, but I think Brand is a big under-the-radar candidate for a trade in general. It reminds me some of Antonio McDyess with the Nuggets several years back -- he was out most of the year then came back from an injury at the end of the season and was traded that summer.

Morey was really brought in to manage the cap and find value. He did that big time with Scola last year. I don't know if we would bring in another major max player.

I could see Brand going to Chicago though with a late lotto pick and younger players to dangle. I'm sure a lot of these East teams on the bubble are anxious to get that one Garnett-like impact guy who can catapult them in a weak conference.

I think Brand could be had for the right price.

The question is a philosophical one. Do you build your team long term by developing the cheap, hidden gems you uncover (Scola, Landry) or do you cash them in upon discovery for a proven talent (Brand) with the thinking that the former have exceeded their potential for return.

How about head+hayes for chris paul? Come on man, everybody will only give us trash for head, at least Mihm is a big and acceptable as a 3-string center after yao and deke.

Yeah - Mihm is halfway decent when healthy. That (health) is his major issue - otherwise he's a 7 footer with a mid range jumpshot who can finish at the rim. rebound and even block shots (not in the Mutombo league there - but not Boozer either!)

If the Bulls draft Rose with the #1, would that make Hinrich expendable to the Rockets?

We need a big shot PG like Sam I Am. Get a 2/3 in the draft and another big man.

If we get Calderon or Miller, I will be extremely suprised....

We basically need players that can create their own shot. Presently we only have TMac,Yao, Raf, and B Jax that have that ability.
