Another PG isn't really that needed. Who, in this league, will trade their starting PG that is deemed good? Even Andre Miller, Jannero Pargo, etc. will take a LOT of persuasion to be traded.

Players at the PG and C position that are GOOD will rarely be traded. I know you guys want Baron Davis and all, but imagine if, on the Warriors board, people clamored about wanting Yao Ming! About 95% of this bbs won't stand for it!

We need to go after Corey Maggette, Ron Artest, etc. We need to go after players that have expressed a desire to get out of the place they have been playing in!

Reiterating on the Baron Davis *trade talk*; It will take TMac to rip Baron away.

So how's about Tmac and Head for Baron, Pietrus, and their first rounder/second rounder?

Starting:

B-Diddy
Battier
Scola/Landry
Landry/Scola
Yao

Both Landry and Scola will need to work on their "Amare Stoudemire" shots this offseason (15-18 ft jumpers). Baron could penetrate in, and dish to Yao, who should be established in the post, DEEP! or pass out to Landry/Scola, who can take it in, or shoot from outside, OR Baron could pass it out to Battier.

I envision this duo between Baron and Yao/Landry to be like Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler. The PnR could be seriously deadly.

We could also trade Battier for a Magette/Artest/Mike Miller type player.

Battier, BJax, Alston for Mike Miller, Crittenton, 2nd rounder?

Starting:

B-Diddy...Brooks...Francis
Miller...Harris
Scola...Novak
Landry...Hayes
Yao...Deke...2nd rounder from either the Warriors or Griz

I know this is kind of a LONG shot, but it could happen! Morey, work your magic!

Crazy thought - Dallas is probably in the mood for making big changes - if Dallas were willing to do a trade with the two centerpieces Dirk and T-Mac - would you do it?

What if we had to take on Kidd in the process?

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Houston and Dallas being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Dallas had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This Trade Succeeded! Go back to adjust your trade or start over.

Okay, maybe that was tooooo crazy.

Another idea - any chance we could get our hands on that Ramon Sessions kid from Milwaukee? He had some eye-popping stats in some games late in the season...

The Rockets need SIZE. Did you see how badly Utah was beating us on the offensive glass? We could barely get a defensive rebound. Personally, I would love for us to get an All Star Power Forward and not some kind of something-out-of-nothing player.

I would also love for the Rockets to get a slasher. Now the best option for that would be Corey Maggette. He attempts 10 FT's a game while making 82% of them.

I really hope Morey will pull through this offseason and get an All Star caliber player.

Sure it's tempting to get a young athletic scorer but the thing is he has a horrible work ethic. If he really was worth it, then why hasn't any other team picked him up yet?

TMac for Dirk?

Nah, Mavs won't do that.

At least, Green won't be worse than Head in playoffs.

First MUST move: Trade/cut a few of our 1 dimensional players
Personally, I would trade Luther and Chuck (We need to develop Landry and Hayes eats his minutes).

Second MUST move: Sign/Draft a young center to backup Yao. This is OK even if Mutombo stays another year.

Third MUST move: Sign/Draft a young wing to backup Tmac.

My next moves are optional if we want a different brand of ball:

First OPTIONAL move: Trade Battier. I think Tmac needs to move back to the 3 position and stay there. If we can land another 2/3 that is good defensively and not as static on the offensive end as battier, I think this would help our ball movement and overall offensive efficiency.

Second OPTIONAL move: Trade Scola + more for a very good player. This would be a massive gamble but I think we hit gold in Landry. While Scola was a warrior this year (and I would miss him greatly), we saw him get abused time after time by Okur in rebounding.

Third OPTIONAL move: Trade Alston for a younger true PG. Once Yao went down, it was very clear Alston was the leader of the team. He was playing because he EARNED his spot. NOBODY EARNED MY RESPECT MORE THIS YEAR THAN RAFER. That being said, is he good/consistant enough to be a championship caliber guard?

Are you dreaming? Especially when Francis has always been an inadequate Point Guard with limited playmaking ability. He is only on this team as 15th man or for a trade filler. :p

In the words of John Leguizamo "Pull out your rubber boots, cause here comes the Bull----". Limited playmaking ability? Even with his gimpy knee this season,he would've been the top three in playmaking behind Alston and Tmac. And he'd be second in creating his shot/scoring at will behind Tmac. Now a HEALTHY Francis that isn't being bogged down by his torn quadricep would have the speed, explosion and driving ability that we were all drooling for when he was acquired. Even hurt, he was able to show spurts of that ability, but in those bad games, it painfully showed that he couldn't ignore surgery like he had been doing since his time in NY.

Francis is just going to tune out this year and just start off on a clean slate next season, this time INJURY FREE. I tell you, even with his faults, if he was at 100%, I guarantee you he would've taken Alston's starting job in training camp no matter how good Alston did there from his athletic ability alone over Skips, which is what Adelman expected that he'd do going into training camp,he thought Francis would start. So all those "this guys useless, washed up" comments from his blind haters, just wait and see what happens when he emerges as our Third scoring option. I expect those guys to succumb to these comments soon enough:

"Francis is a God!"
"Francis was awesome tonight"
"Oh man we couldn't do it without Stevie!"

As a 3 season NBA vet Green will probably tear it up and be a Summer League All Star like Skita, Von Wafer, and Marcus Banks. Rockets will give up him a contract and he'll sit at the end of Adelman's bench.

I would also let go Hayes and Mutombo......plus we need an athletic three, taller athletic 4, and a better backup to Rafer and Yao

Nah, I'd keep Alston. The team runs well with him at the pt. He is at least as effective as Jason Kidd right now. They both put up similar stats. Kidd's numbers were inflated in New Jersey because of the system. Devin Harris is putting up better numbers since the trade. What I would try to do is ship out Head and maybe Novak and definately Bobby Jackson for another veteran PG. Maybe Navarro, Ellis or Calderon?

Francis is a total wildcard. I would not trade him. I would want to see what we got first during the scrimmages after summerleague. If he's washed up, then you waive him. But if he comes back strong like vintage Francis, then ding ding ding. We got a winner.

Can anyone tell me who has money to spend this offseason? Which teams can offer more than the MLE

Moves to do

Tools:
Midlevel
1st Rd Pick
2nd Rd Pick

Players to Move/let go/retire:
Deke (It's not healthy to depend on him). Great Player/Person.
Luther Head (#1 Guy to Trade)
Chuck Hayes
Bobby Jackson
Steve Francis

Let's start with the Draft first. Our biggest needs are size and athleticism at the Backup Center/PF spot, as well as in backup SG/SF. Looking at the draft prospects and barring we don't trade or anything. Our first pick should be Robin Lopez. Just from analyzing our needs and what I've read. He would be a good fit.

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Robin-Lopez-1073/

If we were to get someone like him, it would be prudent to give him some minutes and not Deke. If we can accomplish all we need to do in the offseason and keep Deke, I am certainly all for it. I didn't catch much of Stanford basketball. What do you guys think of him?

My guy for the second round would be Pat Calathes of St. Joes.
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Pat-Calathes-1373/
He seems like a perfect fit. I picture him and battier on the floor together at spurts at the F slot when we need some spacing for Yao and Tmac. Pretty much Novak 2.0. Tho Novak is a better shooter. Thoughts?

I think that would help us address our lack of size at 3-5 while getting smart, good-fitting role players. With the remaining assets (Jackson, Head, Mid-level, Hayes) we could A) get a third option player...Ideas for that? B) Backup at the PG/SG C) continue to bolster our Bigs. I would think Bobby gets shipped at the deadline...usually when people try to get expiring contracts...and also give more time for Brooks, if needed.

Also, what's landry's contract situation?

Well I agree except the part about head....Luther is a stud...but seriously, I think we should keep francis, and see what he can bring and if he is still playing like garbage, then trade him at the deadline....but if the rockets are trying to get someone of great talent in the offseason, and the other team wants francis, then throw him in also.....
