Oh I agree, which is why I said that would be nice to have right now. But again, would we be able to do it without 'major' changes? This is the challenge. Keeping the two we have and adding the third.
ok i know how about we give up battier, francis, head for Vince carter rafer, vince, tmac, scola, yao they want to get rid of vince we want scoring they wont double tmac as much cuz they avhe to guard vince and yao as well and for the nets they get a defender to help haris and jefferson as well as a back up with head, though i think they need help in the front court we could give landry or scola up but right now we need one of them atleast
bobby j, aaron b, battier and head works for vince id say jump on it but then again i like that apache song
Man that would suck because Battier may be the best player we have on our team in terms of being the face of our team. He brings leadership, charisma, had work, and a myriad of other intangibles. Ron Artest can bring a whole team down. (The Pacers) THat year the pacers could have convincingly won the nba championship if that fiasco in auburn hills would not have happened.
As I look back on the season that appears ready to end I reflect on several things both good and bad... The Good Overall the season was a success. We won a lot of games and finished in the middle of perhaps the best conference of all time from top to ...well near bottom. We made history with a 22 game winning streak, and we saw a team that showed flashes of being brilliant and able to run Adelmann's O while maintaining the stingy D. Our future looks promising with some very talented young guys that we need ot hold on to. The Bad Yet again our 14mil man misses almost half the season with an injury, and the important half at that (eventually you will all realize I was right about Yao). All of our bench players are one trick ponies or good but undersized. Tmac is a stud but clearly he cannot carry the team by himself...then again neither can Kobe or Lebron or anyone not named Michael Jordan. The Future If I were in control of the Rox this offseason...TRADE YAO first and foremost. The guy gets hurt every year for the last 3 and for huge amounts of time, and is an underachiever on defense. Fortunately all his injuries have been somewhat freaky situations and he is still young and has the potential to be a 20-10 guy every night and the best center in the league which means we should be able to get a lot in return for him. We can't trade Tmac mostly because there is no way we get anything near fair value for him. We probably trade our picks for either future picks for combine them for proven players because right now we are set in the youth catagory. Keep either head or novak, no need for both since they are both pretty much spot shooters. I love Landry, Scola and Hayes. I also love Rafer and Bobby Jackson is a fine reserve PG but as we are seeing his shootfirst mentality does not go well with TMac. So basically I am looking to trade Yao and picks for a decent big man who has more range and quickness than Yao and a offensive minded SF or SG, and possibly picks in 2 to 3 years. Unfortunately we have too much invested in Yao at this point and I just dont see this happening so until then I guess I will just hope that Yao somehow manages to stay healthy and we pick up Mike Miller in the offseason. __________________
he re-signed at the beginning of this season i think? no salary listed on hoopshype sometimes means they weren't able to source an estimate. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=2008freeagents
What I would like to happen... 1) Trade Bobby Jackson, Luther Head, & the 2008 first or second (which ever one is necessary) round draft pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for Mike Miller. 2) Sign Gerald Green for the league minimum, one year. 3) Resign Dikembe Mutombo for the veteran minimum, one year. 4) Steve Francis picks up his option. Houston: 2008-09 Depth Chart 1) Rafer Alston / Aaron Brooks 2) Tracy McGrady / Steve Francis / Gerald Green 3) Shane Battier / Mike Miller / Steve Novak 4) Luis Scola / Carl Landry / Mike Harris 5) Yao Ming / Dikembe Mutombo / Chuck Hayes
Is anyone else really nervous that we may never see a full year out of Yao again? I'm not a trade Yao advocate, we'd never get good value and that would pretty much make us a rebuilding team. But when I see potential depth charts that look really good I have that nagging thought of, "well. what if he breaks his...i don't know....coccyx? He's had freak injury after freak injury, if there was another one I think I just might kill myself. Or at least be upset for about a week.
a player that could be sign with the MLE that will help the rox is jamison. And rox offer the prospect of major minutes as well. Something that other championship contender could not do. Jamison can play the 3/4, he defends well enough, shooting range to the 3p line. other players that i really like is dunleavy. Have not seen enough games of the warriors, so have no idea how well pietrues plays. Only way i deal tmac is by trading him for 2 of heinrich/gorden/deng. I cant see any other scenario where its actually possible to trade tmac while actually improving the team.
First, trade Yao. It is not that I think we are better without him---on the contrary, if he were healthy, and we were matched against teams with dominant bigs (Phoenix, San Antonio, Lakers) we'd do well. And losing Yao would be painful, yes. Great guy, great human being, next-to-great player. But always hurt and doesn't mesh with our star. I don't think we'll trade Yao, but if it ever came to that, you'd get phone calls from any team that didn't have Don Nelson as a coach. Hell, THAT team would say, Trade us Yao and we'll fire Don Nelson. We can't keep waiting for our stars to "click" or to be healthy at the same time. You've seen what Adelman can do. Get him some players who can pass, who can create their own shot.
Jamison will not accept the MLE and he will stay in washington. Dunleavy is doing well but will stay a pacer
I think the person that can help us the most is Josh Smith, But getting him will be close to impossible.
