That was a bad trade for the Mavs.

Come one, they would never trade Battier unless they are getting an allstar-calibur player in return and Toronto is not trading Calderon for the same reason. I'm constantly amazed how many people think Calderon is actually available. If any PG is leaving Toronto, it's TJ Ford and it's no contest.

Not to mention, do you honestly think Toronto's fans, the organization and ESPECIALLY Sam Mitchell would actually want Rafer back? Things gut UGLY up there between the two parties.

Your proposal also doesn't come close to matching salary-wise.

You don't kown how many fans Ford has in Toronto! You should go to a raptors' forum to check!

In addition, the problem is that they cannot get back decent players for trading Ford. His contract is too big.

Rafer is a good backup pg.

Kapono is not doing well in raptors. He is a great shooter and needs open space, just like he was in Miami. The raptors want to move him. But, I think Yao and Tmac can give him that space. He will be doing well in Adelman's system, just like Peja did in the kings.

The raptors desprately need a wing defender like Shane, otherwise, they have no where to go. If the rocket can give them Shane, they will give us Calderon.

About salary, they can sign Calderon first and then trade him.

I guess they'll take it to the grave with the the gay/battier trade. #9 has produced tracy, pierce, amare over the last few yrs. I don't think they'll ever admit it, but that was a bad trade. 2 yrs later and we're still trying find our 3rd guy. We continue to surround our 2 best players with players short on skill, size and atheleticism. Maybe they'll get it right before its too late.

Howdy People! I would like to put my two cents in and say that we should definitely go for Mike Miller and if possible try to get Ron Artest without giving up Shane Battier, Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady.

As tough as it might be to get a new point guard that is worthy we should keep Rafer Alston at the point because in reality he runs the team well. Its just that he can't score.

I would also like to add that Mutombo as a back up Center he is pretty decent and a steal at the price we get him for.

Players like Novak and Head and Woods are too one dimensional.

Why would he opt out of a bigger deal to sign for the MLE. He has said he wants max money. He isnt going to settle for one third of that, especially when that means he would be leaving millions of guaranteed money he already has on the table.

We dont need arenas. He doesnt fit our system.

What about Danny Fortson guys. he isnt even playing at the moment. Maybe we could get him as a backup to Yao. Mutombo could be third string. I also like the idea of bring Diop if possible.

Why are people pulling for TJ Ford!? I understand he's good and arguably the fastest in the league but he doesn't fit at all. All the complaining about Rafer missing wide open shots (when he really hits a respectable 37%) will exponentiate(is that a word  ). TJ Ford isn't hitting anything outside 18ft.

I'd love to get Travis Outlaw and Jarret Jack like someone said earlier. Not a bad backup plan but I'd prefer to go after Artest first. I'd take Mike Miller as a last resort.

Rafer stays unless we're upgrading at PG, which has little to no chance of happening unless we draft one, and we have way too many midgets to go that route. If we get Artest then Rafer is perfect for the team. I don't see any urgency in upgrading at PG. WE WILL NEVER GET AN ALL-STAR CALIBER PG AND WE DON'T NEED ONE!!!

Danny Fortson was averaging more fouls then minutes for awhile either last season or the one before.

I think we keep Tmac, Yao and Scola together and look to upgrade everything else.....

Get Gerald Green for a couple years on a minimum contract and hope the professionalism of our team rubs off on him.

Look to trade Battier for Mike Miller or Artest type of player....or a quality PG like Calderon and pursue the hades out of Magette and/or Pietrus.

We need shooters period, Mike Miller, Give up Luther, 1st Round pick, and anything short of Tmac, Yao, and Battier

If you have Mike Miller you don't need Shane Battier......they are redundant....

why does everyone keep lumping Mike Miller and Ron Artest together. One guy is a skinny tall great shooter and the other guy is a former DPOY who can shoot good, drive, post and guard anyone on the court. I know Artest is crazy but getting him would make us a contender with 3 solid stars, even with our untalented supporting cast. Mike Miller is just a 6-8 Luther Head, it would be good if we don't give up much to get him but he isn't gonna make us drastically better.

Kapono is a great shooter, and we don't even need to give up the 1st round pick.

They are both different but both are a serious upgrade for our team.....either works well the offense needs to be tooled to suite their strengths.

And Mike Miller is WAY better than Luther head he can pass, shoot and post up.....way better, it is why he is on team USA.....because....he is good.

Mike Miller is much better than Luther Head. Hes taller, he can shoot, and he can drive to the basket. Also not to mention he is tmacs buddy. He would be a good motivational pick up for tmac after all the demoralizing seasons he has had in his career. Last time I checked taller is better for the most part.
