I meant untradable as in no team would give the Rockets even 50 cents on the dollar for him. This team either needs a young All Star (or borderline All Star) OR two very good players for Tmac IMO.
Trade Bobby Jackson, Luther Head, Steve Francis, 08 1st for Mo Williams, Desmond Mason HOU PG: Mo Williams/Aaron Brooks/Rafer Alston SG: Tracy McGrady/Desmond Mason SF: Shane Battier/Mike Harris/Steve Novak PF: Luis Scola/Carl Landry/Chuck Hayes C: Yao Ming/Dikembe Mutombo PG: Ramon Sessions/Bobby Jackson/Steve Francis SG: Michael Redd/Luther Head/Charlie Bell SF: Danillo Gallinari/Bobby Simmons PF: Yi Jianlian/Charlie Vilanueva/Joey Dorsey C: Andrew Bogut/ (25) Jason Thompson or Serge Ibaka Reason for Houston: They get their starting point guard, that can shoot the 3, and also gets a larger backup for Tracy and Shane. Reason for Milwaukee: They start their rebuilding process by clearing up some cap space and gets a decent young player in Luther Head and the 25th pick. Follow up for Milwaukee: MIL trades: Michael Redd MIL recieves: Larry Hughes, 08 1st via CHI #9 MIL: PG: Russell Westbrook/Ramon Sessions/Bobby Jackson/Steve Francis SG: Larry Hughes/Luther Head/Charlie Bell SF: Danillo Gallinari/Bobby Simmons PF: Yi Jianlian/Charlie Vilanueva/Joey Dorsey C: Andrew Bogut/Jason Thompson or Serge Ibaka
The Bucks guards are disasters. Thank god Sessions produced when opportunity is given and give them some hopes. I wouldn't want Redd or Mo Williams in Rockets uniform. Yi is not likely to take the starting PF over Charlie V. Charlie V's defence is a bit worrisome but his offence is great. Charlie V and Sessions are the only Bucks I am interested but I cannot see a fair deal (for both teams) between Bucks and Rockets.
Brilliant! I'm sure LBJ would love to take our MLE when he becomes a free agent. Never mind one of his top goals is to be the first billionaire athlete.
Utah shoots so well because D-Will makes their shots so much easier. He also has more guys who can actually hit basket. During the run, that great, fun, 22-game run, Good Rafer played at a level that elevated the others. Thus, the second place to look to improve (the first being the reintegration of the dominant 5 back in the lineup) is the Point. Who might be 'out there' who could reasonably be brought in and improve the position? I'd look first at Rudy Fernandez, potentially this summer's Luis Scola. The Blazers would kill, so I have been told somewhat reliably, to get Shane. Would the rights to Fernandez, Outlaw, and a swap of 1s for Shane work for both teams? What if Rafer and Pryzbilla were added to the mix? I'd also look at JCN. He had a decent 1st year and could thrive on a real NBA team. Depending on the Lottery I'd also want to inquire about Foye. I don't see anyone else reasonably obtainable without trading McGrady. If TMac were marketed it seems to me that the Clips, Bobcats and Bulls would be the teams most likely to covet him. If it's a Point being sought for TMac then only Hinrich seems plausible. If Rafer were traded there is no more likely suitor than the Knicks. Rafe's contract expires when Walsh wants out of Isaih's salary hell. Jeffries, Balkman, the #2 for Rafe and Hayes? Better deal for Knicks, I'd think. Next season the eight playoff teams portend to be competitive as do the Warriors, Blazers, Clippers (with their guys back, and healthy), and the Kings. Memphis, Minny, and the OKC/Seattle Sooner Sonics do not. But, this means that without a quantum leap forward the Rox could be back to Jersey in May.
So many of you guys are over analzing this wayyy too much, this is not your fantasy team, this is our houston rockets so I dont know why people are listing names like Michael Redd and Gilbert Areneas All we need is a 3rd option I am 100% in favor of Mike Miller, he is a proven scorer and he accepts the role of coming off the bench We also need a backup center, Deke is too old, I want to see a big man from the draft, maybe a Hibbert or the other Uconn guy lol forgot his name We aslo need a consistent PG, I love Rafer but he is always on and off, 2 pgs I think we should look at are Jose Calderon and Kirk Hinrich maybe That is all we need to be a complete team, although Landry is struggling in the playoffs right now, I want to keep him as for the others... Keep- Yao Tmac Battier Scola Landry Brooks Mike Harris Deke... and Rafer I guess if we don't get one of those pgs I listed But I really want to stress that the Rockets need a 3rd scorer, I am watching the Spurs Vs Suns right now and just looking at both these teams, they both have atleast 3-4 players that can drop 20pgs and help the team out every single night, this is why I would LOVE to get Mike Miller and even if we end up not doing any other moves in the offseason, I think Miller would make HUGE difference in the team right away
I though about this before. Big Pryz i think would want out of Portland since Oden is coming back this is my view on it. But then again i think they would keep him around up untill the deadline just to monitor Oden's progress then ship him if he pans out. Pryz would be a nice big for sure in our rotation. Fernandez for Shane i think is a gamble situation because Portland knows exactly what they would get from Shane and adding Outlaw i think they would stick with him and monitor Fernandez. Its a gamble but if we are getting Outlaw too then its the right gamble to make if your Morey.
I think, if the rockets are willing give up Shane, we could be able to get back a better player than Fernandez, e.g., Calderon.
Improve offense is the obvious object for Rockets. In order to be a contender, the defense should be remain in top 3 and the offense should be in top 10. Rafer and Chuck should go. Luther and Steve Novak might be traded. Steve Francis and Carl Landry are tradable if necessary. A decent PG and the third offense player other than Yao and Tracy should be on Houston's shopping list.
I wonder if we would even be having this discussion if Yao Ming was healthy? I know we are flawed, but I believe if Yao stayed healthy, the Rockets would be the top seed in the Western Conference and favored to win it all. The question really is, can the organization continue to bet on two often injured star players? Maybe just hope that the stare align and they both stay healthy for 70+ games next year and tweak the roster. If Yao and Tmac both stay healthy we are a championship team with the current...albeit flawed roster. So, do you jettison Tmac now.....or do you just ride out the expected playoff loss and hope that Yao and Tmac stay healthy? Tough call..... DD
Both options are now good at all, specially the New York option. You are basically asking the team to rebuild around YAO. YAO is already 27, and no one know how much he will decline when he is 30 or 31. I think all we have to do is find a third scorer , or trade for a player like Mike Miller or Boris Diaw and find a point guard who can drive consistently.
Put the crack pipe down and slowly walk away. I can't believe a guy who has been watching Rafer Alston start at PG all year would say such a thing. DD
Yes, with Yao, Houston got legitimate chance. But looking around the League you will find that there are at least four to five teams are as good as healthy Rockets if not better.
I totally agree, but that means that you should just tweak the roster and hope that Yao and Tmac can stay healthy? To me that seems like the best way to stay as a contender....you put Tmac and Yao together...ride it out. DD
Then you would say that for all the western conference teams there is not one team that stands out in the western conference as heads above shoulders. Every series was hard to call at the beginning. Its that close in terms of talent
