trade battier for mike miller. make tmac play defense (last game proves he's much better at matching up with different types of players than freakin' battier). with miller, he wouldn't have to score as much b/c miller can create some for himself. and we have yao, a growing scola, and healthier landry, and a more experienced brooks. mike miller would make a perfect player for us. if we get him and also get to keep battier, put battier on the bench. i'm tired of hustling, defensive-minded players who can do jack.
Dumb, Then Why the Spurs dont trade Bowen????? BTW Battier is shotting 70 + % front 2 and 3 point and last game held AK and Korver to 2-12. Pls. watch the games
Its going to have to be a upgrade to the core and not what is built around them that is just the way i see it. Yao/T-Mac/Battier/Scola is our nucleus and you have to upgrade Battier or Scola some how not meaning trade them but put them on the bench or something or use them as pieces to bring in a big man or someone who you can pound the ball into besides Yao. It would be nice to have a guy like Jamison that would improve the team a whole lot. This is improving the team necleus atleast. Alston, Head, Jackson just is not enough to make a trade to land a player who is going to improve the team dramatically that is going to matter especially during the playoffs No matter what happens i dont think any moves this offseason that dont have anything to do with upgrading the nucleus or finding another playmaker will make a difference. I am all for getting Antawn Jamison though. then the core improves Yao/T-Mac/Jamison/Battier with a Scola on the bench to sub in at the 4 or 5. This is a upgrade to the roster.
Wait a minute...aren't you the same guy who keeps wanting to get Wade for Battier, Alston, and Head (or something along those lines)? What made you change your mind to keep Battier?
Because of his value. Now i only said that because do you really think Wade could win a championship with that team the way it is? Maybe or eventually he will come to realize that if he wanted to enhance his career the time is now and not in the situatiion of a rebuilding mode. By the time he gets the pieces in place and hope Beasley or Rose comes to the sence to tear it up from the get go and that Marion stayes but not for 70 million or anything like that he might want to stay but this is based on the picks making a impact and hoping Marion makes a quick decision and not leave the team hanging around.
The front office needs to change the philosophy of buliding the rockets. We have too many undersize, untalented, hustle players.
Here's what I see for the offseason. 1. Don't expect any big trades. Only if Miami is looking to trade Wade or Marion would I be looking to shell out some big players. Smaller trades that might include Head, Jackson or Hayes I can see happening. 2. Draft a back-up center. I expect Mutombo to retire and even if he doesn't then I would want to draft someone like Hibbert or Dorsey at our spot in the first round. 3. I KNOW we have a HUGE PG problem. HOWEVER, I don't see an easy solution. Right now Alston is an around average starting point guard, no where near the top or bottom. Trading doesn't seem very likely cause theres no point guard that isn't real old and still valuable that will be up for trade. Gilbert Arenas is the only player I see that could be up for a trade that I would want as our PG but thats a longgggg shot. So for PG I would sign Josh Childress and then just wait for Aaron Brooks to develop, this guy will be our starting point guard in two years, he's gotten so much better over this year and really shows his potential, he's a hard worker and not a trouble maker.
Besides our bench I think our starters are pretty big when healthy? Rafer is average, t-mac is above average, battier is average, scola is a little small, yao is above average. Our bench, however, is way undersized.
Mike Miller doesn't show up in the playoffs. Rockets have had two consecutive 50+ regular season wins. It's all about the finals. IMO Miller is another safe choice like Battier. We know what he's going to give a team and it's not going to a 3rd option performance especially for a team lacking a Big 3. He's not going to suddenly develop into a playoffs stud. At 28 he is what he is. I really want the Rockets to throw the dice after this season. Rafer for Rudy Fernandez. McMillan wants a vet that's his first priority for the team to improve themselves. Portland need a starting PG. Pritchard hasnt sealed the deal with Fernandez. Comments to the media that support a move to the NBA helps his agent to get more money in Europe. Anything can happen there. Chuck Hayes got a $5M chinese shoe deal. If Rudy wants more money become Yao's teammate and hire adhoc BDA Sports. Portland were on the verge of making the playoffs they'll be adding even more rookies to a young team unless they trade. It could turn them into the Bobcats or Hawks rather than help them into the playoffs next season. McGrady, Brooks, Rodriguez Fernandez, Head, Francis Battier, Harris, Newley Scola, Landry, Novak Yao, Frye, Hayes Rafer+2008 1st round pick for Frye+Rodriguez+draft rights to Rudy Fernandez
Marion is on a decline and has been the last 4 years and he wanted more money in Phoenix then what he used to make i think that is kinda ridiculous. Im starting to believe and think for Wade or if i was Wade do i want a player on my team who has never won a chip and to be paid like he is the bonified 1st option because he is far from that. Marion is only a hustle role player now and is best suited to be a 3rd option at best and to me should be paid like the 3rd option. Wade is in a bad position right now if you ask me because with all those expiring contract they have Marion just might get his wish but wont decide on it untill probably next year because as of right now i think he is afraid to opt out to be honest. Marion's situation right now has costed atleast 2 years of Wade's time. They have made no moves to indicate to Wade where he stands in the future of that franchise. Also its not like Marion is going to improve. Jamison is actually better than Marion.
Most of your trade proposals are reasonable. Rafer and picks for Frye, Rodriguez and the rights to Fernandez? Not a chance without compromising pictures of Kevin Pritchard. He came to POR for SAS not the Knicks. A direct quote from Pritchard during their last MEM game..."I sort of envison Rudy as a Kevin Martin type player". Translated...Rafer isn't nearly enough. It's questionable whether Rafer is better than Steve Blake.
The only players I'd like to see return next season: Yao TMac Battier Brooks Scola Landry Everyone else is expendable
The only way you'll get Fernandez is to trade TMac and take back Lafrentz's expiring contract, throw other contracts around on both sides... I'd almost be willing to give Portland two great years until TMac quits, and use TMac to get some quality players. Ain't gonna happen, though.
play another year and sign lebron james with whatever possible to have lbj tmac and yao for 1 final year then tmac will become free agent so either sign a midlevel or just let him find another team
what we need: a back up who can play SG/SF and average 13pts in 20 min back up center who is 6'11+ and average 8pts 7rebs in 15 min a PG alike rafer alston's stats but atleast 6'3'' and is consistent in all areas and help on free throws keep: tmac yao battier scola landry brooks novak
I'm all for trading Battier to get better (especially this year cause he got a little national attention) but Battier for Mike Miller would be a bad trade. Mike Miller is worse than Rudy Gay and he can't play any defense. If we trade battier we need to get atleast a capable defender. I think tmac would step up to the challenge of being the best perimeter defender on the team but he's not gonna be locking down people. Kobe is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league but he slacks off to preserve energy for the offensive end. Imagine what you would get out of a lesser defender like tracy. If we trade Battier, i want the rockets to get a decent defender and maybe some other pieces. A trade for larry hughes, some picks and maybe another shooter.
That's a phenomenal idea that I certainly never though of. Phenomenal idea. Eat Marbury's deal in exchange to swap McGrady for a top 5 pick. Only because you say you aren't sure of them, I'll give my opinion of the guys you mentioned: OJ Mayo - fantastic talent, but appears to be hapless as far as true point guard skills (and dubious decision making/bball IQ in general). Looks to be a Ginobili-type slasher. Bayless - much more of a scoring point rather than undersized SG, but also has questions as far as being able to create for others as well as he can for himself. Might develop like Billups given the proper coaching, or could be like a quicker and more explosive Mike Bibby. Just my take of them. Rose is the real mutli-carat diamond as far as a franchise PG. He may just be a better version of Jason Kidd. Evan
