WHERE THE F is that YouTurd?!?!!?!?

Seriously, though, we need to re-review that play

Also, let's complain when other teams get screwed too, not just when we get screwed. This will give us credibility over the incompetent Zebras. Anyone with me?

no, he's asking if it *wasn't* a fumble and moats was carried out of bounds, why'd the clock stop.

the bigger issue is why they didn't reset the clock after the ruling. they should have added 24-ish seconds to the game clock.

I knew something stunk about that call the minute they went to review it. I just had a feeling we were about to get screwed. I thought the rule was that if the loose ball made contact with a player that was out of bounds then it should be a dead ball awarded to the last team that had possession.

There is no excuse for the referee that reviewed that play to not get that right. He should be reprimanded. It was obviously a very close call and he didn't pay close enough attention to the replay.

It's "out of bounds", not "bounce".

That's pretty much how they ruled, except the ball was dead at the goal line, so it went back to Indy because the ball was ruled out of bounds in the endzone.

to be fair to the officials, I was really trying to see if the ball touched Bethea or not and I could not see that from any of the TV angles they had. This picture was taken from an angle where they didn't have a good camera angle and the Refs did not have this picture. Based on the replays, I couldn't see that it touched Bethea either so I can't really blame them.

I still blame Kubiak's replay staff for not telling him to get the ball snapped quickly.

then the ruling should have been inconclusive evidence; play stands as ruled.

Who cares if the officials missed it. Any pee-wee football coach could have known to snap the ball as quickly as possible so the other team couldn't challenge it. It's Kubiak and his staff's fault.

i actually put the blame on moats for fumbling. it's hard to blame anyone for screwing up what was a really difficult call that had to be made up against a ticking clock.

i mean, we're here two days later still debating what did and didn't happen - you blame the texans for not figuring it all out in the first 15-20 seconds?

What I meant was since it touched Bethea while he was out of bounds, it should go back to the Texans since we were the last team that had possession. The ball should've been dead before the Colts player recovered it like it was originally called. I'm pretty sure they blew the whistle as well, giving our guys no reason to try to recover that fumble.

I know it's a tough call to see that, but there was not "irrefutable evidence" to call that a fumble. I've seen much more obvious calls not overturned because they didn't have sure evidence. We just get the worst breaks with challenges/reviews.

didn't realize that was an NFL only rule change from a few years back. Any idea why they changed that.

They had no idea it was even an issue. None. They were on the opposite sideline, so I doubt they could even begin to think that was really a fumble.

Exactly. I was yelling at the t.v. that the ball was touching Bethea when he was out of bounds but they weren't really showing a good enough angle. However, I was absolutely livid when Kubiak let the time run down to the 2 minute warning. We were having a family gathering at the time and I think I might have scared a few people yelling, "Snap the f&*cking ball!!"

You guys are acting like this was the last play of the game. It was the second quarter.

We had enough opportunities to come back and take the game.

Same thing with Michael Finley btw. There were other opportunities to win the series. We lost game seven by 40 POINTS.

Neither of those plays guarantee a win.

No, but they give us more momentum, confidence, and most importantly seven points. Turnovers are kryptonite in the NFL, especially when they cost you points, especially when you are playing an elite team.

You are absolutely right. It's one thing for us fans to miss these kinds of things, but for the guys being paid for their due diligence on each detail is just outrageous.

Considering I was yelling at my TV from seeing the live replay when there was still 10-15 seconds left for them to snap it, the guys watching the replay upstairs should have been able to tell them to run a quick play. There was more than enough time.

i've mentioned this previously in the thread and i think it's been lost - if you're jim caldwell and your guys think there may have been a fumble but they're not sure, and then you see the texans hurrying to the line to run another play ASAP....... what does tell you and how do you react?

he was (most likely) going to throw the challenge flag regardless, either because he was given additional time for his guys to study the play or because the texans forced his hand. i think all this hulabaloo that kubiak blew it ignores the fact there's a good chance a fast reaction would have drawn the flag.

what screwed the texans was the 2MW. had there not been a game-mandated clock stoppage, i'm not sure the colts would have had enough evidence to risk the challenge there.

Does anyone blame Moats for fumbling the ball?

Can we get a RB who doesn't automatically fumble inside the 5 yard line?? That would be great...

The Texans were already lined up on the goal line ready to snap the ball at 2:14 when the clock started running again, we easily could have ran the play without seeming like we were hurrying within that 14 seconds. I would understand your argument had there been way less time but 14 seconds is a long time, especially considering that we were already lined up ready to go.
