chase should have limited minutes, struggling too much and a huge liability on defense, it gets exposed everytime. However, I dont think he will suck like this all year, as far as his shooting goes anyways, he should get that back. But for this particular team now, yes, needs to be benched.
I think most people (myself included) were enamored with Bud because he's a white boy who could hit the 3 and throw down some sick dunks on occasion. But frankly, what else is there to his game? I'm not sure how much the ankle injury is slowing his game down, but he's not hitting the 3 at a good clip, he's not hitting the 17 footer off the screen at a good clip anymore, and without regular minutes with Lowry, his open-court game has suffered so he's not getting to the basket at a good clip. Throw in the fact that he's below-average defensively, and it's just a bad mix for him right now. I'm hopeful it's just a slump that he'll get out of, but didn't he go through a stretch like this last year too? Consistency seems to be a struggle for him.
"Miscombobulated" or not, the OTHER members of the 2nd unit are kicking ass: Hill and Lee in particular, and even Ish played very well when Brooks was out. C-Dud is in a jumbo-sized funk and I'll be surprised if he's still in a Rockets uniform after the trade deadline.
He's had few games when he went like 5/5 from deep. The guy can really shoot and is a valuable veteran.
Ironically, they would all be better with Ish running the show too, that is how the 2nd unit is designed....look at Lee's numbers since AB took over....the entire unit is struggling right now. DD
Apples and orangutans. They're struggling a bit now because AB is still getting his game legs back. Dudinger has been struggling all year -- with Lowry, Ish, or AB running that second unit.
I hope he gets it going so we can trade him. The last thing we need is another Luther Head in the playoffs. Bud is softer than charmin.
Yep, there are no excuses, he is struggling, his role has expanded, and honestly, he can't handle it.....or so it seems. DD
All that would make sense if he was playing more than 20 mpg and if he was really working that hard on defense.
Sorry but I never was on the Chase bandwagon to begin with. I'm sure he's a nice guy and very good to his mother and all that but I was never all that impressed with him being the answer to their problems at the 4 spot.
Ha ha! Thanks. I was thinking about all of the folks who want to move Scola for some magic beans at center. As a 3, he's even worse but what can you say? The SF position has been an issue for going on 5 years now. MeMac was supposed to be the answer but we all know how that worked out. The thing I find interesting was that as long as MeMac was here (even while hurt and breaking down), they kept trading away potential replacements like Rudy Gay and Donte Green. Battier is a great player but he's a luxury in that he's the designated defensive stopper. He makes sense if you have a true star as the starting SF but if he's the starter, PROBLEM. SF is just a mirror image of the bad decision making that has been made for the center position.
Honestly, can everyone just stop complaining about Budinger? I get it, he's been playing poorly all season. He'll either get it together or get replaced. Enjoy the win streak in the meantime. Whining all day is not doing anything. You'd probably miss him once he's gone anyway. Everyone complained about Rafer's terrible shooting, but went haywire once he was traded. "OMG, they traded Rafer?!? The rockets don't care about winning!!1!"
People are complaining about Bud because RA plays him so much. He should be playing Lee and T-Will more. Hell, he can even play Pat Pat. As of now, Bud sucks so much that he makes the team play 4 v 5 on BOTH ends.
Chase Budinger needs to get it together as of now he is a big liability. I'll be a the Miami game when he comes in he needs to be making a positive impact. This would be the perfect game to do that or this will be the perfect game to play Terrance Williams for the first time.
Actually Bud's time has been trending down and the leash is getting shorter...but don't let the facts get in the way of a good bash session. Glad to see you are also coming around to my can't play 4 on 5, gonna remember that when other players go back to their career averages... DD
He's trying to be more active and playing a game he's not comfortable with. We saw the same thing with Ariza last year. They are going to keep going to CBUD for better or worse. In a season when you aren't contending - it makes perfect sense to do that.
