I won't stop it. I know you've used +/- earlier in the season to criticize Lowry (in competition with Brooks) and Courtney Lee (in competition with Budinger). And you've cited +/- to defend Budinger. Your agenda is so transparent, its laughable.

I don't like the way you exploit statistics when it suits your needs and dismiss it when you don't like what it says. Can't have it both ways.

And to think some were calling him the next Larry Legend. Can we say Matt Bonner please?

Matt Bonner is a nice player. I'd like Budinger to be as good as Matt Bonner.

    What? LOL - seriously?

Like you and everyone else doesn't do the same damned thing.....

I tend to NOT use statistics like +/- all that much as it is clearly based upon your teamates, and sometimes whether other players on your opponent are hot or not.

I like some stats, but plus/minus is not one of them.

You just have a burr under your saddle because I questioned your running tabulation of the SOS....which I LIKED BTW....just would prefer a different approach.

No big deal...I like your stats oriented approach. I value stats, but I also know they can be seriously manipulated...and are a cause for several arguments as people look and weight some stats differently than others.

So please......stop joining the chorus and get back to being original....

Durvasa, you are pretty darn good with them stats and making your case with it. I remembered earlier this year you defended Chuck with some stats when I doubted him. You've proved me wrong sir. Thanks and I'm happy you did ;)

09/10 season: Budinger doing well for a rookie.

2010 offseaon: We start hearing about Rockets hoping/expecting Budinger to gradually take over more minutes from Battier. We also hear about Battier mentoring Budinger and Rockets being thankful for said mentoring.

10/11 season: Budinger struggles. Battier minutes looking safer.

    Hmmm...

Indeed.....everyone does it.....not really a shock to intelligent people....we all realize that to use selected stats is just a way of making an argument but in the end, it is how each individual values those stats that you present.

You can not win many arguments with stats, there are always multiple ways of looking at them....

    Lies, damned lies and statistics.......

People who regularly use statistics to further their own agendas make me sick.

For instance, DD, you use statistics in 19% of your posts, but 68% of THOSE posts use statistics to further your own agenda.

I, on the other hand, use statistics in 26% of my posts, but in only 7% of THOSE posts could it even be argued that I was using said statistics to further any alleged agenda I might have.

    There you have it. Proof.

    I rest my case.

To be clear, I had no issue with you or anyone else in that thread questioning it. I was annoyed by your argument that because statistics give an "incomplete picture" (which means nothing, because every picture is incomplete) there isn't any value in looking at the schedule the way I did. No point restarting that topic here, though.

"you never screw with a winning streak" What is a winning streak but a simple statistic? 5-0

According to you though, statistics do not paint the whole picture. Then why is it you cannot look for an upgrade in the lineup, simply because of a statistic?

Lee. I also think Jeffries should be ahead of Budinger. We should still bring T-Will along slowly.

I have faith that Bud can somehow get his act together, but he doesn't need to take so many precious minutes while he's doing it. I think the D-league would be good, then he should come back and take 10 minutes a game.

The good news is, we've played to this record with so much failure coming from the SF position; failure that we can lose at any time, just by sitting Bud on the bench.

    My observations of CBUD.

He's not playing worse. But a couple of things are going on. He's not being used the same way. Last year most of his points came off of passes. Either for dunks, lay-ups, or open 3's.

This year, he's doing more to try to create his own shot. Last year he was terrible at it. This year, he's still bad, but honestly, I see improvement.

Yes, I actually think he's playing better this year than last.

The thing is, he's working a lot harder on both ends of the court. Inevitably that's going to hurt your jump shot. People wonder why guys like Kmart and shoot so well yet play such bad D. Well one reason is because they have so much energy for not playing D.

Ever wonder why Phil Jackson tells Michael Jordan and Kobe Byrant to pace themselves? It's not just to save it for the fourth quarter - it's because even just being a little tired hits your ft percentage.

The harder you work, the harder it is to score. Some players need more minutes to get comfortable and feel it and shoot a higher percentage. But generally speaking, guys who are beyond that actually play better with few minutes or when they don't have to play D.

That's why the Lakers wanted Artest so bad. To help Kobe rest on D.

CBUD is working harder on D this year and that's hurting his game a bit. He's also trying to create and that hurts his percentages as well.

So I think people need to Chill a bit. The guy is a very good perimeter shooter. Problem with Chase isn't his jump shot though, it's the rest of his game. If he is going to survive in the NBA he's going to have to be more than a one-dimensional shooter.

I agree, dude! Budinger is on his way out ... he will be part of a package and after that T-Will will get his minutes!

He's working harder on D? I'm really not seeing it here. I didn't think anyone could be worse than Kevin Martin on D..but here we have Bud proving me wrong.

Apparently when AB is doing the passing it is.
