In a very simplistic way of looking at things...sure, I guess.

Chase is mentally weak, doesn't have the confidence a player should possess to break out from slumps.

Players go through tough stretches, this is Buds. For those of you saying he sucks, give me a break. Bud has a nice skill set, struggling yes, sucks no.

Shows how coach feels about Bud continuing to run him out there. Maybe they want him to play his way out of it. I'm thinking it's time to sit for a while, might do him some good.

Like Buds game, not off of the bandwagon but I would include him in a deal if it made the team better.

Sometimes, it's the simple solution that works best.

I'll take the simplistic excellence. ;)

Yes, +/- is not the be-all, end-all of indicators. But it is at least somewhat telling.

You are right, the entire second unit has been largely inconsistent. But Budinger has been the poster child for such inconsistency. His horrible defense has created holes that have been largely responsible for the second unit's failures. To argue otherwise is to turn a blind eye to the obvious.

Oh, and by the way, I did NOT think that Jordan Hill had a particularly "magnificent" game. He hit some shots, and he got screwed on one or two calls by the refs. But his defense (especially on the pick-and-roll) was terrible. He STILL has problems consistently paying attention on defense and cannot stay out of foul trouble. Otherwise, he would have taken over the starting center spot by now.

Overall, Hill had a pretty good game. But I'd much rather see him have a 6-point, 5-rebound game in which his defense is more consistent.

BimaThug, don't you know you're not allowed to use +/- unless its to say something positive about one of DD's favorites or something negative about a player who's competing against one of his favorites for minutes? Used in any other context and it is simplistic to the point of being worthless.

Oh, yeah. And this. Forgot to mention Lee. Unless/until Terrence shows that he deserves minutes in the rotation, just give the majority of Bud's minutes to Lee. Who cares if he's two inches shorter than Bud? He can D up at the SF spot and gets enough lift on his shot to get it over most SFs (although maybe not a 6-11 guy like Rashard Lewis tonight).

Oh stop it Durvasa, you can still sleep well with your ledger of stats under your pillow.

I just think the +/- is one seriously weak statistical measure.

I agree that Lee should be playing more....but I don't think he can guard SF's either....he is also too small...and light.....

Are C-Bud's minutes due to talent/expectations or to showcase him for a trade? if former, oops. Time to give more p/t to Lee or TWill. If latter, OK, I'll be patient.

Even if that's true, I'd rather have Lee in the game "not being able to guard SFs" than have Bud in the game "not being able to guard SFs". At least Lee could guard the PG or SG on a switch. Budinger is equally inept guarding all five positions.

Bud is weak on D...no doubt....

It is strange really, it is like he is playing scared out there last year he had a "Screw it, I can play" attitude and just went with it.

This year, it is like he is scared of screwing up....we need the "Screw it guy" back.

I don't get to watch that much NBA here in Australia but the few times I've seen Bud play, he just doesn't seem into it. Even when he gets 'fired up' and dishes out hi-5's it looks forced and unnatural/insincere. It's hard to explain, he looks like that guy in pick up games who'll only play because you need an extra player. He won't play D and stands in one spot and take the occasional shot if you pass it to him.

He's always got the same expression and has absolutely no urgency in anything he does. When he's out there, his intensity suggests he's on the practice court at training camp.

Maybe watching Trevor Ariza screw up so much last year gave him the confidence to play through his mistakes. See, I told you, you would come to appreciate Trevor!

At least Lee will be in the right position too. Bud gets so out of position in the team defense scheme it is painful.

LOL - if that what it takes...then..fine....

Seriously, if TWill shows some of the stuff in practice he did in the Dleague, I am all for benching Bud...

Bud went from "screw it" to "screw it, let's just party"
