I honestly don't think so. If Cooper's an incompetent manager, he's an incompetent manager. Fans that aren't complete idiots should understand Cooper being let go.
LOL, its getting real close. Im going to some games in july against the cubs maybe I'll blow up that pic for some goodluck
Nah, I haven't listened to 610 in a while actually. That's absurd though. This whole Drayton doesn't like black people has gotten completely out of hand.
Wow, what a year so far...we are in bad shape... When Coop gets canned, who's the guy that's going to turn this thing around?
he isn't the problem. he certainly is a problem though. and whether or not any manager could win with this team is neither here nor there. he demonstrates almost every game that he's incapable of managing in the MLB.
I dont think its so clear that Cooper sucks. He's done about what he can with this lineup. Ed Wade on the other hand....he made tons of moves and we suck as bad if not worse than last year.
No joke. Ed Wade can't **** pitchers. Nor could he **** new and better prospects. I'm not a big Ed Wade fan as I thought that he was terrible in Philly but to put this teams failures on his back is stupid. There was no (and still isn't any) pitching that the Astros could aquire. Even if there was we had no (and still do not have any) prospects to trade for any pitching. Personally, I think he did about as good of a job as a GM could have done with what we have\had. At this point, the Astros have two options: 1. Bump the salary of the team dramatically to aquire top flight pitching. 2. Dump all of our stars and rebuild. I do not think that either of those will happen, thus, we will continue to have ****ty teams.
What the hell for? For improving the offense? The pitching was not good last year. There was no really good pitching available this offseason (that Drayton would be willing to pay for). Wade fixed what he could, and knew this was a work in progress.
Hank Steinbrenner is a douche. But I tend to agree with his accessment on NL rule. LOL Now we lost our No.1 or No.2 pitcher for at least two months. I am pissed. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_y...LYF?slug=ap-yankees-wangout&prov=ap&type=lgns NEW YORK (AP)—Yankees ace Chien-Ming Wang is expected to be sidelined until at least September after injuring his foot running the bases, prompting club co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner to chastise the National League for playing without a designated hitter. An examination in New York on Monday showed Wang partially tore a tendon and sprained his right foot Sunday during the Yankees’ 13-0 interleague win at Houston. He will be on crutches and wear a protective boot for a minimum of six weeks, the latest blow to the team’s banged-up pitching staff. “My only message is simple. The National League needs to join the 21st century,” Steinbrenner said in Tampa, Fla. “They need to grow up and join the 21st century. “Am I (mad) about it? Yes,” Steinbrenner added. “I’ve got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He’s going to be out. I don’t like that, and it’s about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s.” Making a rare appearance on the bases at an NL park, Wang pulled up rounding third and hobbled home on Derek Jeter’s single. Wang doubled over after scoring, pointed toward his right foot and was helped off the field. “This is always a concern of American League teams when their pitchers have to run the bases and they’re not used to doing it,” Steinbrenner said. “It’s not just us. It’s everybody. It probably should be a concern for National League owners, general managers and managers when their pitchers run the bases. Pitchers have enough to do without having to do that.”
Maybe Hank Steinbrenner should figure out that pitchers are baseball players too. Boo hoo. You lost a #1 or #2 pitcher for a couple months. We lost a potential #1 or #2 at age 22 for his career due to a baserunning injury. Remember when we thought our rotation was set for years, with Roy O, Redding, Wade Miller, and Carlos Hernandez? Hernandez was done way too early, Miller's career was basically shot by the time he was 27, and Redding seems to just now be figuring out how to become an ok pitcher. Can we get a nice pitcher again?
Yes, that's what I am saying. Fire him for impoving the offense!! Just "fixing what you can" year in and year out is not going to make for a successful franchise. In a couple years when we can get around to fixing the pitching, Lee and Tejada will be old and fat, and Oswalt will be declining even more. It doesn't make sense what Ed Wade is doing.
If this season does go into the crapper by the ASB, we could very well restock Round Rock by trading everyone but Berkman (never trade him), Matsui, Bourn, Pence and Oswalt (you never sell low). I wonder what all we could get in a series of trades involving Tejada, Lee, Valverde, Wandy, Backe, Erstad, Wiggington and Brocail?
I agree with ivanyy2000..we should not have pitchers trying to do anything as arduous as running the bases. Especially Yankee pitchers since the success of East Coast teams is paramount to the leagues survival. (As the national media pointed out to me over and over when they were demeaned by having to cover the Astros/White Sox world series...might as well have been a cow chip tossing contest in Nuevo Laredo.) Also we should put NFL quarterbacks in skirts and subject any of those big meanie people that try to tackle them to lifetime bans.
