i can't begin to understand how this didn't happen. wigginton got hit by the pitch and my 8 year old said, "who can run for him?" as he wigginton was jogging down the first base line.

I think the major problem the Astros have is that their hitters other than Berkman and Matsui don't take walks. Lee, Tejada, Pence, Bourn, Ausmus all have below average OBPs.

Jimmy D has a great job right now. He gets to have fun in the booth and it's pretty low stress. Why in the hell would he want to be manager?

Also...recall that the last time they pulled a popular guy out of the booth for managing, it didn't end well for the Wrangler.

Yeah, but at the end of the day, he left a good job in the booth where all he had to do was watch baseball and talk about the game to go to a job where it was non-stop stress and his ultimate dismissal.

Two close calls on the basepaths, and the Yankees get both calls. What a surprise.

Wandy simply can't handle pressure situations. He's weak-minded.

This is the loudest I have ever heard MMP....for the visiting team. Of course it will be 10 times louder for the Red Sox in 2 weeks.

This is why i love Hunter....one of the reasons he's going to be so good....and eventually hit 3.Old school with a ton of talent...and fire.

Pence is going to mature into a monster.

so...basically we have crap starting pitching, crap bullpen pitching, and hitters that don't know how to walk.

Another series lost. Astros' pitching is very, very weak.

At least Lee is hitting well again.

On another note, did anybody else happen to catch the Stanford vs FSU game today? I believe it was on ESPNU which my hotel gets for some reason.

It was a matchup of top flight college catchers: Posey vs Castro.

Stanford scored 11 in the 9th and won 16-5. Castro went 1-5 with a BB and no SOs.

Castro looked very solid behind the plate, impressively throwing out a couple of runners.

They were comparing the three college catchers up for the Johnny Bench award. Posey's offensive stats were most impressive but Castro ruled in fielding %.

They are replaying the Stanford vs FSU game on ESPNU right now if anybody has access and is interested in seeing Castro.

Castro looks like a natural behind the plate kind of like Joe Mauer. Posey has some ridiculous numbers but I see him playing somewhere else other than catcher. By the way, the Astros have done a good job so far of signing their picks. I expect them sign Castro after he is done with the CWS. It shouldn’t be too hard to sign him since he is in college and was a top 10 pick. The hard part is going be to sign high scholars Chase Davidson, who signed with the Georgia Bulldogs, Ross Seaton, who signed with Tulane, and Brad Dydalewicz, who signed with the Arizona Wildcats.
