That's not Dusty's M.O., never has been, never will be.

He lets his trusted starters go longer than just about any other manager I've ever seen.

Dusty will never do that. He respects JV and “backs his guys”. He’s gonna leave him out there to go 5 innings and give up 5 ER again.

 

But that is kind of the issue. The reason to trust your starters is so that the rest of your staff is well rested at the end of the season. They are currently at the end of the season. Can't keep doing it just because you have been doing it.
