The difference this time is that Washington is white hot. How do you deal with that? We sent Cy young 1 and 2 out there to shut them down \ cool them off and they cut through them like hot butter. I believe in this team. But sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the other team when they have everything going together at once. Not like it is a fluke. Ever since late May they are standing with us toe to toe.
Not the prettiest swing, but I guess it’s effective. I think he’d have trouble with someone who threw in the upper 90s and could locate up and in, but that’s not Sánchez.
Thats a pure loser mentality. You're going tip your hat to the Nats for the Stros inability to score with runners on? With Altuve being picked off 3rd with 1 out? Was it the Nats who forced Springer to watch his ball fly? The Nats who made Bregs lose his ability to play defense? The first 2 games has been on us and thats what gives me optimism for the next 3. We've been beating ourselves.
Absolutely you tip your cap to them and in no way am I implying that these two losses are a "fluke". They're a damn good team who's clicking on all cylinders, HOWEVER, we're a damn good team as well and a play here and a play there this series could be 1-1 or even us up 2-0. We're certainly behind the eight ball right now but I still have faith in this team and I expect them to come out tomorrow night and score some d&*m runs. One game at a time. We get tomorrow night and we go from there!!
Alvarez over Reddick is my bet. He's been seeing the ball better in the World Series and the Nats showed they are scared of him when they issued an intentional walk.
Lets not forget that the Dodgers choked away the series against the Nats. Kershaw had no business coming in to pitch the 8th. The cardinals had a fluke series win over the Braves. Im just not buying that the Nats are a better team then the Astros right now. This series is still for the Astros taking.
Whether or not they’re a better team really doesn’t matter in the small amount of games we’re playing against them. But agreed the series is still right there for us.
Pitching has been more than decent so far. Yes verlander and cole gave up runs but it doesn’t help that the bats aren’t scoring any runs and putting more pressure on our pitchers to pitch a perfect game. That’s just unreasonable. The Astros inability to score with runners on the bases is appalling and has been straight putrid all post season long. They need that to change in the worst way to get back into this series.
O/U on Alvarez playing the field vs. sitting on the bench? Hard to believe that just 2 weeks ago, this would have been a no-brainer.
Nats won eight in a row it’s time for the Stros to go on a streak of their own and win four in a row.
