It's going to be such a ****ing long offseason with the Texans and Rockets dropping L's... Still think there is a ton of reason for optimism with the Stros going forward though. It will be a very important offseason, but we will likely have a lot of money to spend. Plenty of options and routes to vastly improve weak areas. I hate the Strom is gone. He needs a statue in front of MMP. But I've really come around to trusting this front office that they will make moves to put us in position. It was hard after Luhnow. I probably would have criticized anyone in that position. I think part of that is me slowly coming around to the idea that we may be able to improve the team more by spreading the money that Correa is looking for around and fixing multiple weak areas. It will be interesting to see what happens with Baker. I think Click decides to move on from him, but I don't necessarily blame him for the WS loss. That's definitely way more on the offense going quiet. Last night sucks. Today sucks. We should have won this WS. But one thing I'm not going to let this do is cause me to lose faith in the organization. There is no reason why this squad shouldn't be even better next season.
YULI has an 8.5 mil option that will certainly be picked up. I doubt Correa is going anywhere. Run it back. JV and LMJ. Trade L. Garcia, Javier and two big prospects for Glasnow. Verlander Glasnow McCullers Valdez Urquidy
I remember thinking during the Royals series, that this team is going to show up in the playoffs at some point and we'll be out.
This series reminded me quite a bit of the Nationals series at times. I wonder how much of our hitting inability against the Braves is because of lack of familiarity with NL pitchers?
A painful ending that is becoming too familiar for Astros ‘Second place is not good enough for us’: But Houston is still searching for an untainted title
Were there comments outside of this article? I didn't read anything in that article as bitter. I read the article as he's 72, been in the same job for the last 7 years, feels the organization is in a good place to carry on his work and give other people opportunities, so he's ready for a change. He may retire, but if the right opportunity is out there he would consider it.
The Nationals series I think there was more bad luck on hard hit balls, but this is probably part of it. Not only NL pitchers, but in this case many pitchers who hadn't even pitched much in the majors. I do think the team was pressing more when down and trying to play hero ball at times more than just keep things moving. With the early pitching explosions, they were behind early a lot and when they had opportunities early they couldn't capitalize and never loosened up.
Well, it sucks we lost but it was a fun ride. Bats go cold for us and the Braves were just the better team for this series. I hope we can somehow keep CC but I don't see it happening, give me two aces for the money we are saving with Verlander and Greinke contracts coming off the books. I am down to sign Verlander for less then what he was making but I get the feeling he wants one more big contract and with his TJ surgery I would be very leary. Greinke IMHO is washed up as a number 1 or 2, he relies on hitting the right spots and doesn't have the pop on his FB. It was a fun year, lets hope we keep it going next year, we have at least one team that's been consistent in the last 5 years
I agree. I think going into the Series our hitters believed that they had to score as many runs as possible because a 3-4 run inning by Atlanta was inevitable due to our pitching staff so they had to try and score and score early. They survived Boston and they knew it would be the same issue with Atlanta so all of our hitters were pressing. Well..at least me and you believe that.
Disappointed by the ending, but ultimately it was another great season. Winning a pennant is no small feat...given that it took the franchise over 40 years to win their first.
