Can someone post this article? https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/st...rs-atlanta-braves-houston-astros-fall-classic
The key for the Astros, it seems, is for their starting pitching not to give more than 1 run in the 1st 3 innings....lol. And wear the ORANGE TOPS for the rest of the series.
Gm4 is a bullpen game for Atlanta. If it doesn't rain Fri-Sun Gm5 could be a pen game for them as well or pitching Fried on three days rest.
Now that was a thing of beauty. From the first pitch. Thank goodness after having next to nothing to cheer for last night. Now we have to endure pitchers bat.....ugh, hope the DH does infact become the standard league wide after the offseason meetings....
Game 2 2001 NLDS, Stros down 1-0 in the Series and 1-0 in the game at MMP Bottom 5, Dave Mlicki has pitched his ass off, Castilla and Ausmus with 1-out singles off of Glavine, 1st and 3rd, Dierker PHs for Mlicki, chooses Truby for some inexplicable reason: Ball, Ball, Ball, Called Strike, Swings and misses a total meatball (iirc), Swings and misses at ball 5 (iirc). Biggio grounds out, threat over. Bagwell and Hidalgo get erased on DPs after singles in the next 2 innings, Stros lose 1-0, get swept next game. There are no videos of this on the internet that I can find, I'd love to see it again. ========================== Game 3 1999 NLDS tied at 1, 3-3 bottom of the 10th at the Dome Bagwell BB, Cammy 1B, Stan Javier 1B, bases loaded no out. John Rocker comes in, CE is hacking and hits a weak grounder to 1B...out at home, bases still loaded. Next comes the Walt F'ing Weiss play on Eusebio's grounder up the middle. Another out at home. Stros lose in 12 and lose the Series next game, with CE having another horrible AB against Rocker in the 9th (K) down 2 with a man on 2nd and 1 out. Long story short, we still owe these ****ers from Atlanta some payback
Braves were sharp in game 1, I was surprised at their poise as WS virgins. I'm equally surprised at how error-prone they were in game 2.
Move the games to a "neutral site" to a ballpark with a roof....like in Arlington. (....just had me thinking about the cubs game in Milwakee during the hurricane....)
Game 3 Garcia vs Anderson Game 4 TBD vs TBD (likely Greinke vs Opener) Game 5 Valdez vs TBD Game 6 Urquidy vs Fried Game 7 Garcia vs Anderson I would take a split of the next 2 games if you gave it to me right now. That's how much of an advantage I think we have in games 5-7. The key right now is to get to Anderson early and get him out of the game ASAP. If that happens and the Braves are looking at having back to back bullpen games Saturday and Sunday, then this series is over.
