Yeah, we are talking about the same player then. I watched a lot of Mariners game this season. He was atrocious at 2B. Looked up his savant page to see if my eyes were correct and they were… -10 OAA. His arm strength is garbage too. That’d be a straight up disaster.
What is concerning to me is Framber Valdez wanting Dr. Andy be with him at all times. This was shocking to hear Brice Matthews leading off will be huge. Astros need to find a Center Fielder like George Springer, that has a ability to leadoff and bring energy. Chas McCormick body looking overweight, lazy at Centerfield. Dana Brown really needs to trade some long time Astros. Framber Valdez, Kyle Tucker, Chas McCormick, Jake Myers
I was talking to my wife about the early exit last night and she said ‘we’re spoiled’… And that’s the truth. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck but the truth is, we’ve been witnessing a dynasty with 8 playoff appearances since 2015. Compared to how we’ve had to scratch and claw before that, it’s a damn nice thing to be able to say, year after year, we always have a shot at the ring. We’ve been in the drivers seat for most of that time. Other teams and truly knowledgeable sports media and fans know it and never take us lightly. So yeah, it hurts. But at a higher perspective we’re damn lucky to have this team and organization that continues to put out top-shelf product. We could be a fanbase that hopes against hope to even make the playoffs, but we are blessed to realistically not only expect it, but expect to win it all.
Woke up sad, this sucks and I'm not sure it is fixable. There are so many holes and issues- I did not realize how bad a season Altuve had until checking his stats just now- far and away the most strikeouts he's ever had, worst ops since 2013, and several other career lows. Is he washed or in serious decline? I didn't think so until now.
The End of the Astros Reign Oh, we once ruled the diamond, in the AL we reigned, From ‘17 to ‘23, no one could contain, Two World Series titles, we held up with pride, But now it seems our dynasty has finally died. Chorus: Raise your glass high, for Framber’s wild pitch, And Skubal’s fastball, that Astros couldn’t hit! The Tigers came roaring, we crumbled in shame, Oh, goodbye to our glory, goodbye to the flame! Valdez was trembling, game one was a wreck, While Tarik’s fine pitching had us all in check. No bats were alive, our stars couldn’t swing, Against Detroit’s bullpen, we couldn’t do a thing. Chorus: Raise your glass high, for Framber’s wild pitch, And Skubal’s fastball, that Astros couldn’t hit! The Tigers came roaring, we crumbled in shame, Oh, goodbye to our glory, goodbye to the flame! The era is over, the dynasty’s through, We’ll toast to the past, though the end makes us blue. The Tigers now dance, while we sit and moan, For the once-mighty Astros are dethroned from their throne. Chorus: Raise your glass high, for Framber’s wild pitch, And Skubal’s fastball, that Astros couldn’t hit! The Tigers came roaring, we crumbled in shame, Oh, goodbye to our glory, goodbye to the flame!
It was always a meh to me. It was still popular in the 80s when I was around. But it was living off it's history. I don't know if it had changed by then or it was always meh. But I had a history with Der Weinerschnitzel and one of, if not THE, largest volume stores outside of California. Believe it or not, in Orange Texas.
Some absolutely rotten luck last year and this year on balls put in play. But excited to see the pitching next year.
His range and fielding has gone downhill fast too. Any average 2nd baseman makes that play in the 8th to turn 2 or at the very least 1. Think this is worst defensive season in his entire career. And it's only going to get worse.
I'm with you here, but I was talking to my buddy yesterday saying the same thing and he made the point that we're not really spoiled because we sucked for so long before 2015. I started thinking. I've been a fan since I was 6 years old (1976) and the more I think about it, it's true. Yes, I know we had 80 and 86 and the Killer B's years, but those 90's teams never did anything but lose to the braves or get swept in the WS. I think if you jumped on the bandwagon in 2017, yeah, you're spoiled. But if you've been following this team religiously for your entire life, maybe not so much.
He doesn't make the play vs San Diego either. He is clearly the 3rd best defensive 2b on this team right now. It's time for him to have 1 game off per week, playing 25% of his games at DH, and bringing in a defensive replacement in 8th/9th if Astros have a lead. 136 games. (102-2b, 34-DH) give him 70-80ish fewer innings w/ defensive replacement.
