He definitely is a gamer. What a nail biter win today. Not a fun win in the least. It is a win though.
Nope, I do believe you have to have a better RB than O. I also believe in continuity in the OL. that takes time to develop. Fisher was an upgrade at RT today IMHO.
Right. Dare has greatly beat the odds to even still be in the league. Dare is 5th oldest RB with a rushing attempt. All the other RB's are former full time starters. Dare is the 2nd oldest back in the league to start a game. Derrick Henry is the older back, who is a freak. Thats who to base "relative" production to? RB is a young man's position, even Mixon is "up there" in age & mileage. Cam Akers has almost as many total career carries, as Dare has career rushing YARDS. Dare starting is a nice pat in back reward for professionalism, but its just overextending him
You should have heard me when he did that. WTH was he thinking? That, and when Schultz got penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct. Stupid things like that are so frustrating.
That's completely fair, but then, don't run with Dare when you have Akers, who is at least an upgrade, and serviceable when it comes to actually running the ball. Dare has been nice on the check downs and making plays in the open field. Again, that comes down to coaching, the players aren't deciding who is running the ball and when. I agree on the Fisher assessment, he was fine. I want to be clear, I am not a Slowik hater. I just think this team should have a higher standard. Baby steps is acceptable when the team is still finding ways to win. Also, on another note, since we're talking about RB quality/depth... I've been screaming for years that Nick doesn't take the running back room seriously. Keeping Burkhead around like he's Kobe Bryant on a retirement tour, not spending on them in the draft... It's ridiculous. Signing Joe Mixon and then sitting back and acting like we're all set isn't good enough. Again, not a Caserio hater, he just has a massive blind spot and it's infuriating. He's done a great job so many other ways, but there's no excuse that we don't have a better option than Cam Akers and the detritus of his achilles' right now.
Hating on CJ Stroud has got to be the weirdest, most puzzling thing I have seen on here. He definitely had some killer mistakes in the second half today, but frankly I don't know what football team y'all have been watching for the past two years if that's your mindset.
I agree with this. Colts game is looking like a fluke. Cuz Colts are a bottom run D in the NFL. The Bears run D itself is below average compared to passing D, yet big Mixon got stopped. Vikings & Jags have great run D's, not that insulting to get stopped by them. But Texans run game was just struggle Bills are putrid run D like the Colts. That should be a bounce back looking solid on ground. But the Texans barely ran adequate, no better than vs Jags. Staying the same against awful D should count as a regression really. Yes Dare should never start another game in his life. But asking Mixon to break through defenders in the backfield 2/3 carries is a tough ask. Thats not his job. Texans have the NFL longest 3rd downs for a reason. From combo of snap penalties, lack of o-line cohesion, no push, play calling. Then its a wonder if its a roster & coaching scheme mismatch.
Right? Like Mahomes is the only qb to throw an INT in every game so far this season… wonder how their fans put up with that.. Also, after what we’ve trotted out there over the years, and after what Watson has done in Cleveland.. we are going to complain about CJ??
A RB room of Mixon/Pearce/Akers/Dare is a good room IMHO. I get why they use Dare in the passing game because he's an above avg blocker. They should never use him in the run game like they did today IMHO. I dont understand why they dont use Akers more.
Who's complaining about C.J? It's fair to say he made some mistakes today. Not just the Int and fumble but some of his reads and protection calls were off. Bottom line is when they needed a play to get into FG range he made a play, even if it was a 3 yd pass.
