No idea but it baffles me that we let our top sack leader and top tackler go. Our QB and defense were our biggest strengths last year. The offensive line, running backs, and secondary were our biggest weaknesses. The only difference maker in those areas is our running back, who has unfortunately already missed 2 of our 4 games because of an uncalled illegal hit.
probably but it's because of experience. Shaq was ballin' here. Picked off Burrow, 12 days after that he is mysteriously released. Ca$hman led the league last year in passer rating allowed by a LB . Greenard was one of the league leaders in pass rush win rate. The 220 yards in the ground by the Ravens in the divisional round really soured Meco on those guys. So we opt for the coveted DTs, Wilkins has other plans and Armstead deal fell through.
I have a feeling the Texans will either win this by 10ish or get destroyed by 3 TD's. The Bills didn't exactly look super impressive last night, either. So, that being said, of course they will route us 35-7 lol. If we lose, I want us to not lose because of 12+ penalties per game or whatever the number has been for the last 3 games. If Josh Allen beats us, so be it. But I'd love to see some idiot-free or relatively idiot-free football.
Houston Texans - Not the team I expected this season. I expected more refinement than last year. There is far less. I thought they would be more efficient, more in sync, Nope. Thought they would "roll." Not even close. At times they almost look like a team playing a "pick up" game. Like they have never practiced, don't know the plays, never met each other. What in the world is wrong? Coaching? Overconfidence? Lack of focus? Of course, as a fan I like the 3-1 record. But are we enjoying the games? Nope. They are gut wrenching, like watching a train wreck. And the good to excellent teams are going to blow the Texans off the field. (remember the Viking game?) Now if they beat Buffalo. Nope, not going to happen.
Last year we were 2-2 but I felt better about the team after we destroyed the Steelers in W4. Nowadays we are 3-1 but barely scraped by. Of course, last year's team laid duds losing to Atlanta, New York, and Carolina where the offense sputtered. This year though we face much tougher competition with games against the Bills, Ravens, Chiefs, and Packers still to come. Bottom line is the team has to get better. We have yet to put together a game where we play complementary football.
This defense is currently missing Christian Harris and Denico Autry. Let's wait until they get back, and we see what this Front 7 looks like when they are completely healthy before judging too harshly. Henry T has been an admirable stand-in for Harris, but Harris is a significantly better athlete and can diagnose the play faster than Henry. And while Foley has been very good, Autry is a veteran who has done it consistently at a high level for a long, long time. I'm more concerned about the explosive plays that the secondary is still proving to be susceptible to than I am the pass rush at this moment.
Something to note, the safety that wasn't called to end the game would have covered bookie all. (-5.5) I love bookieball.
