This was a sorely needed bye week. The Texans have looked out of sync for a while. They’ve eeked out wins against the Jags and an unimpressive win against the cowboys. But they lost a “give-me” win against the Titans, and even though the kicker missed an inside 30 yard field goal, the game should not have been that close! They lost a game against the Lions and Green Bay that they mismanaged and potential staple wins turned into gut wrenching losses. As it stands now the Texans have lost games against the Jets and Titans which they should have won. And they beat the Bill, which most would have figured they should have lost. The current record is 8-5, and prior to the season projections they should be at 9-4. So they are one game behind where they should be at the most conservative wins. The positive is that they did almost beat Green Bay and the Lions. They defeated the Bills. So the Texans have talent, but their self inflicted penalties have killed much of the momentum in many promising drives. The loses are to the Vikings, Packers, Lions, Titans, and Jets. Three of those loses are to teams that are very good, the hard part is that the Texans looked like they were going to beat the packers and the Lions until they collapsed towards the end. Losses to the Titans and the Jets are inexcusable!
How is the Browns' offense looking so good with a bunch of no-name receivers? Jameis has a big arm and loves to air it out, but other than Jeudy and Njoku, he was spreading the ball around to players I’ve never even heard of and they were getting open and making plays. WTF Bobby?
Jameis has ALWAYS had natural QB talent I mean, he did throw for 6TD’s last night. But two of them were for the other team (awkward)
This is much needed; IMO this is a few weeks to late but will take it.........but sucks we can't watch the Texans this weekend. I hope CJ gets out of town for a few days and can RELAX
My easy joke aside, the entire offensive staff has to do a deep dive on our second-half struggles during this time. You can't keep telling us that it's a "lack of execution" when we just fall off a cliff offensively every week. At some point, if the players can't execute consistently (week after week), there's a bigger problem with your offense system. Slowik: I'm not saying you have to overhaul the whole thing with four weeks left, but you have to make some changes. Get your head out of your butt, stop being so arrogant, and adjust. We're lucky that DeMeco hasn't pulled a Buddy Ryan yet.
When Jameis Winston is ripping it scoring multiple TDs there is no excuse why our offense sucks so much.
Word is that CJ is spending thru money like there is no tomorrow. A young guy gets millions: that is a HUGE distraction. His "I am Wonderful" tour last summer was another HUGE distraction. Throw in a porous offensive line, and a "young" OC and you have a formula for bad things to happen. And they have! The question is can they ADJUST? We will soon find out. If not, they are going to limp thru the rest of the season and go home early.
DeMeco and Bobby (and Strausser too) need to do some serious reflecting during this time. The issues that crop up week after week (2nd half struggles, clock mismanagement, inopportune penalties, etc) show a distinct lack of attention to detail, lack of adjusting, and lack of fortitude that's a direct product of the culture being set in place by this coaching staff. It's time for them to put some accountability on not only the players, but themselves. This is a talented roster, and these are fixable issues. Figure out the root causes, and hit the ground running these last 4 games.
