The Texans haven't had a RB as good as Mixon since Arian Foster. Over a decade ago.. The running game with all the weapons Stroud has? Scary. Worries from the first game: Stroud was having to move around and escape the pocket a little too much. So hopefully the pass protection gets better over time. Giving up 3 passes of 50+ yards. I hope the deep ball won't be a problem with this secondary each game. Good win but the score felt closer than it should've been.
Jalen Pitre should watch and learn from Eric Murray how to tackle near the goalline. Pitre tried to stand up Richardson who bullied his way through him. On the Colts 2pt conversion attempt, Murray dove at Taylor's legs and halted him.
Definitely should have been at least a 10 PT win. But ahh well. Hopefully secondary plays better, OL plays better, and so on.
Secondary looked pretty suspect. AD Mitchell got behind the defense a couple of times as well. Gotta improve that aspect.
Part of that was how much the team was selling out to stop the run, it puts a lot more stress on the secondary than normal.... but we gambled that Richardson couldn't beat us with his arm and we were right. They gambled that we couldn't beat them with our running game and they were wrong.
With ToTo and Scruggs both having good games, that 2023 draft is looking even better. Stroud, Anderson, Dell, Scruggs, ToTo, and Patterson all look solid. Maybe Hutch too. Horton and Hill probably misses but cant blame Mr. Casserole for Horton
Jimmy Ward is a problem. He's too slow on deep plays. Shame we didn't sign Justin Simmons who put out public feelers that he wanted to come here. He ultimatey signed with Atlanta for a 1 year reasonable contract after Texans responded that they were satisfied with their safeties. Remember Simmons is a Mahomes killer. He reads him real well. Demeco wanted to stay loyal to his guy I guess.
