I don't like the fact that all the money is on the Texans with such a small spread. This will be a close game.
Agree with @solid all the hype is cool, but let's not kid ourselves we have a tough schedule and the division should be better as well. Keeping AR and JT contained is key. Hoping for some big defensive plays to set the tone and letting our O cook.
Colts gameplan is pretty clear. Run the ball and keep it out of CJs hands. Control the time of possession.
I was an Oiler fan from their back to back 1-13 seasons until Jeff Fisher was gone in Tennessee and the last Houston connection was gone. The start came as the NBC signal became strong enough for me to hear the game on TV, even though it took a while longer before the video was strong enough to see anything but snow.
There’s a very good possibility with start season without Autry, Harris and WAJ…Very disappointing and a frustrating way to start a possible Super Bowl run… To be honest, I’ve read nothing that indicates/signals WAJ being healthy and ready to roll..it’s actually quite the opposite!!
Do the guys coming back improve and do the new guys play well? If so, then we should improve more than the schedule takes away. At least that's my analysis. I do not expect to be working on all cylinders yet because we don't use Spring training to get ready anymore due to fear of injury, We haven't seen our best on the field at the same time yet. And they need to get a feel for this years team and it's potential.
I think the game hinges on which AR shows up, the inaccurate passer or the beast of a runner who can make a highlight throw here and there.........the pessimistic Texan fandom is creeping up in my head so I must suppress it back down into the pit of my stomach....................it will be close. Not having Harris and Autrey will hurt like hell, I only hope WAJ is ready to go 28-24 Texans
Yes. Also worried about WAJ. I think Harris going on IR means he likely comes back 100% as does Autry of course. We just can’t have WAJ having an injury hobbled season. He is the type of guy to play through tough injury but we need him maxxed out year 2 version. Lets hope he was just being kept on bubble wrap and is 99% ready. In other words, we are gonna have to light up the scoreboard to take this one. That I know we can definitely do so despite the stiff front 7 of the colts, especially if we can get chunks running the ball. Gonna be intense. It is fvcking game week!
Im not super stoked about having a middling LB corp vs mobile QBs. Pitre needs to be assigned to spy AR all game if possible because the LBs will have their hands full with an elite OL/RB combo. Make Richardson beat you with his arm. I think our offense wins a high(ish) scoring game 31-27
Battered Houston Sports Fan Syndrome. I'm right there with you. Wasn't old enough to remember the Oilers but my Grandpa took me to my first Texans game against the Ravens during the Inaugural Season and been a diehard fan ever since. This year seems too good to be true. Hoping we can stay healthy and live up to expectations!
Demecos stubbornness in believing in Pierce will cost us a game I strongly believe…Really disappointed in him as every freaking game is critical with this tuff schedule…Put Akers in and he is man possessed..Very very strange!! I guess our coach isn’t perfect after all…
Fisher has earned a lot of playing time. My high hopes for him are now even higher. Demeco decided not to change the initial RB pecking order based on preseason. However, the real game results will speak for themselves and Cam Akers will move up. I just want Mixon and Akers to be healthy for the playoffs.
Depth chart literally means nothing. If DP ends up carrying the ball more than Akers on Sunday, and showing nothing in this game, then it's a valid talking point moving forward, but let's wait until that happens first. I have a suspicion that Akers and DP are more like 2A and 2B. It is a huge bummer that we're missing both Harris and Autry (and potentially WAJ although I'd bet everything I have he's doing everything in his power to be in for this one). The Colts are one of the most elite running teams in the league and if there's one glaring weakness for this defense right now, it's the run. I hope we can do enough to keep them at bay, and give the offense enough breathing room to take the game over.
Really don’t like Pierce as backup. And Dare above Akers? Were they watching the same practices and preseason games we were? also, I just don’t understand why Woods is still here, he’s not enough better than the next guy as a #4 and we could have used that 5 mil to bring in a LB or DT and kept someone else on the bubble.
