10 years ago ... "We Always Believe". The "kid" recites his commercial before a Rockets home playoff game against the Utah Jazz in May of '98. Listen to the Summit crowd. The 90's and the Rockets -- great times. <object codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" align="middle" height="52" width="322"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.houndbite.com/player.swf"> <param name="quality" value="high"> <param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff"> <embed src="http://www.houndbite.com/player.swf" flashvars="filename=http://s3.amazonaws.com/houndbite/clutchfans-upload-74fj55i6h3sf.mp3&autoplay=0&duration=56000" quality="high" bgcolor="#eeeeee" name="player" allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" align="middle" height="52" width="322"> <param name="FlashVars" value="filename=&autoplay=0&duration=56000"> </object>
My intial reaction was to think that it's over. And, honestly, if JVG was still the coach, it probably would be. I'm not trying to hate on JVG. I liked his coaching. But JVG's system relied heavily on Yao and T-Mac. When either of them faltered, the team lost. But... we've got Adelman at the helm. I think back to his Kings team that did well in the playoffs, and, honestly, I think we've got a better roster than that team. I think about Rick's previous teams and I see teams that didn't rely on one or two superstars. I think about beating Chicago a few days ago. Not because Tracy or Yao went off for 35 points, but because seven of our players scored in double digits. The more I think about it, the more I realize that our team has been winning because of a combined, balanced effort. Of course, we've only played one game without Yao. ...and it was against a team that was missing its two best players. ...and it was an Eastern team. ...and we've got much tougher opponents left to face. But I don't see a whole lot of "quit" in our team. I believe we WILL make the playoffs.
Nice post, but come on now, it's Steven A. Smith. MISTER-STEVEN-I-AM-NOT-YELLING-FREAKING-A-SMITH. That guy is a total tool.
it's not too late it's never too late . . even if it's too much, I expect Deke to put up 10 points, 5 blocks and 10 boards per game by the end of the season . . and being a mad important starting center for us! . . and with the way scola and landry playin . . TMac shouldnt have a problem winning the first round with the way Rafer is handling the offense and also with the former RA king, BJ . . also with Green, we just might be one dangerous team . . I'd like the Rockets to run the $h1t out of every team, and finish this season on a 38 game winning streak. 13 game winning streak + 25 games left = 38 game winning streak as # 1 in the West. = End of 07-08 season = Start of a new journey to the road of the FINALS!
I know. He just rubbed me the wrong way with that little sportcenter clip. I didn't mean to type that much, but I could have gone even further. That only took me about 10 minutes. I wish I could crank out 800 word essays for school like that.
I agree, I think Deke can be of more help than first thought. He is plenty rested, (for whatever the #$@ reason...5-7 measley minutes a game and Yao could be having serious MVP considerations, we're talking about 20+ wins, as the rest of the league cringes), he's probably still in-top physical condition, and he's a great team player. Who's our best cheerleader? Plus Yao and Deke are great friends. He's been here watching/helping Yao evolve. I bet he hurts more than any of us. Sooo, 5-6 minutes a quarter, any points a bonus, 6-7 boards, 2 blocks and defensive intimidation (gotta love the finger wag). I can't see any D-League guys doing anything other than provide 6 fouls atd take up space. Count Deke in!
Hi all, I'm a new member but a longtime Rockets fan. This would be my first post as a reply since I can't make a thread yet. And sure, I still believe in the Houston Rockets. Yao's injury just motivated everybody in the team. Deke can still play and would be playing hard because he knows that Rockets need him. Carl Landry is a very talented young man and Scola will do his best like he always did. I hope that T-mac can be 100% back. For me, he's the only problem right now. He has to be solid in every game and he has to be healthy. I hope the best for the rockets.
assuming Yao recovers fully, I would rather have this "broken dream" than the one the mavericks had last year. this is unfortunate but it is not a failure of our team. what mavs fans went through seems a lot worse. especially after a 67 win regular season.
