From everything I've read, the security team was just doing its job. The minute you put your hands on someone who's surrounded by security, it doesn't matter who you are - you're going to get an equal and opposite reaction. In an ESPN article, "Spears said she gets "swarmed by people all the time," including Wednesday night, but that her security team "didn't hit any of them" and she urged "people in the public eye to set an example and treat all people with respect." But I guarantee you, if anyone tried to physically touch Britney Spears while she had the same level of security as Wemby did, the person would definitely be forcibly removed. Now, I don't know the degree of physicality that she experienced, and perhaps no one will ever know, but to act like Wemby's security team is in the complete wrong, is baffling to me.
I mean the kid's security detail shouldn't be shoving regular people just for walking up to say hi either...
There's levels to touching right. Like did she tug his shirt or brushed the tip of his fingers... etc. Or made no physical contact (but just got too close?). Because according to Victor, he didn't even remember her. I doubt Britney Spears did to Victor what his security guard did to her. Level of trigger should determine level of response. Security guards are also not law enforcement. So if that guy overreact and hit someone, he should get reprimanded. This is not a celeb getting treated better, as if he hit a normie; it's also not good. We've seen security push crowds if they get too close. But the alleged report was that he backhanded her. If true, that's excessive. Think of it in your own life; of the number of years you've been on earth, how many times (not in a joking setting) have you actually back-handed a stranger in the face?
Of course, just saying can you imagine if a male fan went up behind Spears and tapped her on the shoulder? Her security would 100% do more than a backhanded slap. Or if a regular fan tried to do this to Wemby? If we getting slapped then everyone should get slapped lol
TMZ "Britney Spears was allegedly assaulted Wednesday night in Vegas, after a member of NBA phenom Victor Wembanyama's security backhanded her in the face, and she has filed a police report. The incident went down at Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel around 8:30 PM. Britney, along with her husband, Sam Asghari, and 2 others went to the restaurant for dinner. She was swarmed by fans as she entered the casino. Britney and co. walked over to Catch, and as they were entering the restaurant, Britney spotted Victor. We're told she's a fan and went over to him to ask if they could take a photo together. She tapped him on his back, right shoulder and, we're told the Director of Team Security for the San Antonio Spurs -- the team that drafted Victor last month -- instantly backhanded her, causing her to fall to the ground ... knocking her glasses off. Britney composed herself and went to her table. We're told the security guy came over to the table and apologized. He said, "You understand how it is when you're being swarmed by fans." He apologized and Britney accepted it. Britney's security team spent time with Victor's security guy, and afterward her team filed a police report with the Metropolitan Police Dept. alleging battery." Update: 9:46 AM PT -- We just received contrary information about the police investigation from a source high up in the Metro PD. Our source says this is indeed a criminal investigation and they are taking the incident "as serious as a heart attack." The source adds the case will "likely" be referred to the D.A., although that does not mean criminal charges will be filed. 9:10 AM PT -- We're told Vegas police brass will be meeting face-to-face with Britney this morning to discuss the incident. Our law enforcement sources tell us the cops who responded to ARIA reviewed security camera footage showing Smith push Britney's hand away ... and then her hand, not Smith's, struck her face. Cops did not address the velocity of the force of the swing. "... one who slapped Britney is Damian Smith, the Director of Team Security for the Spurs. " ----- Stay classy San Antonio Spurs...
@Os Trigonum @Jontro OOOPS She did it again.. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/37974501/no-charges-filed-britney-spears-wembanyama-incident Police: Spears struck self in Wembanyama interaction; no charges
I thought she was knocked down on the floor or something. Her head didn't even snap back. From that video's angle, it's not even clear if the security guy saw her face. He was swiping at her hand to prevent her from touching Wemby. Celebrity drama.
