When Devers signed the contract he signed he was expected at the very least to be a team player. With the money comes responsibility and Devers didn't live up to that responsibility. With this said he's still a star level hitter and I'll bet you he will be willing to play 1B with the Giants. He's a big add to a Giants lineup that needed a bat badly.
