“LOL”? What a stupid and condescending way to start a reply. But it’s hard to argue with your insight of “you still have score runs.” But it is easy to argue with “you play for 9 innings.” There is nothing magic about 9 innings … except that the 10th+ becomes harder and therefore is the best time for your best strikeout pitchers. Dusty did cost them yesterday just as he did with the defensive alignment Thursday. But while this slump is annoying, the Astros will be up 5 again by next weekend and will cruise to the division lead. Debate is fine, but if assertions make you LOL, you are a moron.
If Dusty held back Graveman or Pressly for potential extra innings and one of the other relievers gave up runs that cost the Astros to lose in 9 innings this thread would have a least 5 more pages of people calling Dusty the dumbest manager in the history of sports.
At this point I believe that the only reason Dusty is still managing is because he has an endless supply of toothpicks and bubblegum at his disposal
Hiring Dusty was a PR move. I was good with it for 2020, didn’t like him coming back this year. I’d be shocked if he’s back for next season.
I was wondering if that was the strategy... continue moving the runner over. On the flip side, one could argue that both McCormick or Brantley could conceivably get an XBH (or HR) and odds of winning (not just tying) go up. At that stage of the game, and with what was left in the Astros bullpen, I could see a valid argument for both pathways. Still doesn't excuse the piss-poor AB.
A moron and a troll. Not even an Astros fan. Just comes in here because he has nothing else meaningful in his life.
Hahaha stick to stanning for the Texans, clown. You want to know how I know he doesn't use analytics?? Because he continuously puts pitchers who struggle against LH batters in to face LH batters. He continuously uses his high K pitchers in non-leverage situations. He continuously puts his players in situations where they have to succeed DESPITE him. That goes against everything analytics stands for. Now we're lucky the Astros are a really talented ****ing team so we'll probably get into the playoffs, but if you think "Dusty is good because his teams are good" is the only reason to trust him as a manager, I don't know what to tell you.
Let’s see what happens in October. I’m fine with the Astros being 65-45 despite missing 2-3 top bats in the lineup 1-2 top arms in the rotation for what feels like the whole season.
Carlos destroys him, Altuve hits him pretty well, and nobody else has more than 10 ABs against him (Castro 0-10)
It would be wonderful if the Stros could maybe get their **** together tonight and play a complete game.
