Agree no excuse for Framber regarding the rest But there were multiple plays that could have been made with our current "best" defensive team in the field, that were not. His start could have easily looked totally different if plays were made
Brian Cashman did an interivew where the broadcasters asked if his analytics and training departments gives Aaron Boone a suggested lineup every game. The answer was yes. If you don't think the Astros work that way you are mistaken. Trainers said Yuli was out and Correa needed a day. Dusty had to get creative. That's how it works.
THIS Dusty has zero issues running Robel's horrible a$$ out there on pretty much a nightly basis. But can't find a place for Meyers to get a start or two? Heck no, not with Chas talents
Yet Dusty says he plans out these days off well in advance If you think all of these rest days are done by the analytics and training department, you are mistaken In fact it's pretty obvious that Dusty uses analytics as little as possible
For most of AJ's tenure we didn't have a guy like Alvarez though. Yordan is awesome, but he pretty much takes that option away, at least on a regular basis
I'm not really a baker fan but IMO its usually less then we think. I have no data but maybe a handful, 5 or less. So Bakers at least made enough good moves to for 64 wins then?
Even 5 games is huge, I don't think most people realize how big a difference that makes As we sit, we are a bad weekend from being in a straight up dog fight for the division. If we had 5 more wins right now we would be sitting with an 8.5 game lead, and while that wouldn't be a clinched division, it would make our chances of winning it around 95%
I'm not a Baker fan either. There are things he does that makes it harder to win, but even a bad decision is rarely the sole reason for a loss.
Well of course but in no way was I downplaying throwing away 5 games. I'd love to have 3-5 more wins. I just stated its typically less then fans think. There's an ump tracking handle on Twitter, is there a manger tracking site anywhere? No analytics here but Hinch #4 (of course) Baker#12 https://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/all_30_mlb_managers_ranked/s1__34502618#slide_1
Fangraphs has the odds of winning the division at 89% and making the playoffs at 96%. Fivethirtyeight is 89 and 97%.
If you think a guy behind a computer has final say over the manager of a team... I got a 10 year, $100 mil contract ready for Correa to sign.
Today we are 65-44. Bref has Pythagorean W-L: 69-40 ... so we are slightly underperforming by 4 games
ESPN has us at expected win loss at 70-39... with Red Sox as most overperforming... projected 59-51, reality 64-46 https://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/rpi/_/sort/wins
At least we have a full compliment of players now, for what it is worth... Gotta start banking some wins during this "light" stretch of games.
