Offense receives a positive comment when you want to. The theme was All-Negative O previous 5 posts.

    Peacock has a <3.00 ERA ... Muss 6.00+

ALL bad arguments by you tonight, per usual.

Previous start to tonight, Muss had a 4-0 lead entering the 5th... then surrendered 4 runs, which ceased his W.

    Expecting a <5.00 ERA from a #5 isn't expecting "perfect"ion. Dude was 7+ last night with 10 baserunners in 5+ IP.

Instead of ‘choke’, let me say ‘come up empty’ or ‘fail to deliver’. Yes, Bregman’s line drive nearly changed the game; and similarly, if Sipp had fielded the comebacker to the mound cleanly, we may have gone to extra innings. Had just one of our warning track fly balls had a little more distance, etc. etc.

I agree that Peacock needs to head back to the pen as soon as the starting rotation allows. And Musgrove needs to head to Fresno. Probably, he is best suited to long relief of 3 or 4 innings rather than a starting role.

Peacock has proven superior to Musgrove in most respects, and like Musgrove, tends to let things get out of control after recording 18 outs or throwing ~60 pitches.

Here’s a little comparison of Peacock’s and Musgrove’s numbers, which show pretty clearly why Peacock should stay on the active roster (in the pen preferably) and why Musgrove should be demoted to AAA:

Peacock: FIP of 2.53 and xFIP of 3.88 and ERA of 2.63

Musgrove: FIP of 5.07 and xFIP of 4.45 and ERA of 6.04

In terms of ability to go deep into games, for Peacock we have opponents’ batting average against of:

    .126 In pitches 1-25

    .203 In pitches 26-50

    .256 In pitches 51-75

    .333 In pitches 76-100

    And for Musgrove, we have:

    .269 In pitches 1-25

    .309 In pitches 26-50

    .301 In pitches 51-75

    .356 In pitches 76-100

If Peacock were never asked to throw more than 75 pitches, his FIP and ERA numbers would be even lower. That’s a situation that will obtain if he is moved back to the bullpen.

Very soon, we may be looking at a rotation of Keuchel/McCullers/deGrom/McHugh/Morton and a bullpen fortified with a Wilson/Hand/Madson or other upgrade. That would put us in very good shape for the postseason.

13 baserunners, 4 warning track fly balls, and 2 bullets right at somebody with men in scoring position.

Sometimes the offense performs well and just hits into a little tough luck

That is baseball. Sucks that our offense just missed scoring several runs, and the Twins got 2 runs off of a should be double play ball.

Admit it. You enjoy the losing more than the winning because you get to complain about something. WHINER!

I'm not sure, I just ignored it and all future messages. Hopefully just a one time annoyance.

This post gets no love, meanwhile this...
    ... gets plenty?

From the same guy who introduced the stupid Peacock-Musgrove comparison to begin with.

    It's fun watching CF happen.

And we are 35-15 (70%) against teams winning at less than 50% when we played them
