This is the point where you need to step away from your keyboard. You've probably posted 30 times in this thread in the last 15 minutes. We get your point. Go have a beer or something. They're not gonna win every game
Thanks for the advice, but i am going to give you my thinking about that. You may be the biggest Astros fan, i am not going to argue that, but you are not more of an Astros fan than i am. Thanks to "fans" like you and I, we have made all those Astros players and up level front office guys rich, or have dream jobs, thank to people like us. If we disagree with as fans on things that are going on with OUR TEAM, we should be able to argue, talk, rant, whatever we want to about OUR TEAM. Now, if i was going to the Rangers fan forum, and trash the Rangers, that is uncalled, but talking negative about OUR team? That should be allowed and people should not get offended or pist. As you said, is not that you disagree with me, but is that i am annoying, well, that is your opinion, but maybe thats the best way i can express myself is this kind of forum about my team. If we are playing good, i will write about it, as you've seen, but when we are playing bad, i will do the same. Why so many times? Because we see the mistake again and again and again. How can a manager continues to make same mistake???? How???? Now, many people call me names, tell me stupid, and things of that nature, do i respond???? No, because i am not here to fight with other guys, but i am here to talk ABOUT MY TEAM. Annoying? Well, they should feel worse with Hinch making mistakes and allowing a very good team play so average for so long. Maybe they should show their frustration on the team, manager, instead of forum member because you know what? Maybe i look bad or stupid trashing MY TEAM, but they look worse making this personal and name calling forum members or instead of giving good reasons against my argument, they just say you are just a fan, they know better. Well, maybe they are making mistakes, and we should be able to express it. Finally, good arguments will always be well received. I have not argue against Gregerson, now, he is not our best reliever, Harris is, but he was already used. A member gave a good argument and numbers proving he has done good this year, i have to agree. Now, i prefer Gregerson as a set up guy, not a as closer, as i see him as a great set up pitcher, and just an above average closer, maybe good closer. I am not happy that Hinch has not given VV the opportunity to show he can be an effective reliever in close game situations. Hopefully, i've said Harris should be our 8th inning guy, tonight using him instead of Neshek is the beginning of that to continue, lets hope, but i think Hinch is making way too many mistakes, and for our team to win, THINGS HAVE TO CHANGE, not me.
If i post 30 times is because i am replying to comments like yours. Yes, i agree we are not going to win all the time, but 1 and 3 in september and playing .500 baseball for the last 3 month and now september???? Tonight we saw examples of that, why we are not winning more. Why sit Rasmus??? That is a good question. I've never mentioned that Valbuena was not playing, why? Because Marwin was. I also think Tucker should had played, but as DH instead of Gattis. Look at the Twins, Bruxton plays because he is great defensively, he is not hitting at all, but they move Hicks to rf and Bruxton to cf, Hunter does not play. What happen? Bruxton wins the game for his defense and scores the first run because our centerfielder could not make a throw at second. So, from the beginning, lineups, the managers are responsible for outcomes. I really believe our team is much better than the way we are playing for so long, and the manager should always take the responsability on that. Same way goes if the team is not suppose to be good and they are, the manager gets all the credit, well, same thing should go the other way when they don't win, or play average for so long. Is time for Hinch to start improving, because we don't have a lot of time, and Rangers are just 1 game out in the loss column, and right now i don't trust my team much.
You sir are impossible. I could ask you what you're having for lunch tomorrow and you will turn it around and write 6 paragraphs on why Ramus wasn't starting and what move Hinch made you disagree with I hope you realize you can post and make it as long as you want, but at this point almost everyone here either has you blocked or they just ignore your post and continue to scroll down
Got a question. I was at the UH game and obviously the astros PA announcer annouced the UH game, but who was the PA announcer for the astros tonight?
Actually, that is what you are wrong about, this forum is not to talk about what i ate but about baseball. Thats my point, is to talk of why Rasmus did not start last night, that is a legit question, but you know what? Not one of the guys that love to trash me has answer that question, you know why? Because you know i am right but don't want to accept it, you prefer to make all of this personal, instead of talking baseball. You guys are just too focus on looking the other way when things are not done right because you think that is what a "great fan" is.
When the team loses, people who don't understand baseball very well just blame the manager, it's easy to do, and of course those people have the "right" answers all the time, because nothing they are complaining about wanted has actually happened, so they can't be wrong
Those asking for VV or Feliz in a close game late....if they got it, and they blew a lead...would be calling Hinch an ignorant man and manager...it's just how some are Keuchel will shut these guys down today and we will win the series, some will still find a lot to complain about though
If we lose today, against one of worse pitchers in baseball (Duffey) and we are throwing a Cy Young candidate, at home, then we don't deserve to win the division. That would be 3 series lost in a row, 2 at home, and a 1 and 4 september. Now, let me talk a little about the lineup: Who is hitting 4th? Gattis? Why??? His average is .241 with an OPS of .729 (ouch). Last 7 games his average .240 with an OPS .590, yes same player that our great manager decided to play, hit 4th instead of playing 2 lefties, Rasmus and Tucker last night. Well, those are the moves by our great manager that i will never understand. Other teams have good number 4 hitters (well, except Rays, they don't have one particular guy) Why is that hitter important? Because is the one that will give Correa, a 20 year old player PROTECTION. Do we have a good number 4 hitter in our team? No. So we have to think out of the box, i have one name, ALTUVE. Why? He is our best hitter with runners in scoring position. He will protect Correa because pitchers know that Altuve has no strike zone, meaning, there is not a particular way to pitch to him. Guys like Gattis, pitchers know if they make their pitches, he is an easy out, with Altuve, that is not truth. Why not this lineup? 1. Springer RF (He is hitting only in the .170's with RISP, but gets a lot of walks and steals, he is a very good leadoff hitter, plus power) 2. Marwin Gonzalez 1b (He should be here until he gets cold) 3. Correa SS 4. Altuve 2b 5. Lowrie 3b (He is starting to hit, switch hitter, not an easy out) 6. Gattis/Tucker DH Yes, i have both, Gattis had done nothing this year to say i should play daily 7. Rasmus LF (this guy is giving us many good at bats in important situation, plus he is very good defensively 8. Gomez cf (As you guys see, he is hitting 8th, his defense must improve if he is going to really help this team, Marisnick plays much better defense in CF) 9. Castro/Conger Yes, i want Conger to get some games vs right handed pitcher, please, the guy can hit them) That lineup makes sense. Now, Altuve hitting 2nd, he does not give Springer an opportunity to run as he swings at everything. Gattis hitting 4th is plain stupid. Gomez hitting 6th, he is not hitting with any power. Rasmus not playing is stupid. Rasmus in last 7 games has a .273 average and slugging of .435, compare that with Gattis, who played last night. Hinch can't continue making mistakes with our lineup, is time to STOP this nonsense. Make a lineup that makes sense, and stick with it, one vs righties, another vs lefties. And please, stop making the SAME mistake you are doing with Conger with Marisnick. He uses Jake vs lefties, but he is not hitting lefties, only .181, now, vs righties he is hitting .269, but for some reason, he uses Marisnick against lefties. You know that Marisnick is hitting .294 in last 7 games with a slugging of .471? Do you know Jake is hitting .286 in the last 15 games with a slugging of .486? And do you know that he will not play? Why? Hinch, and if he plays is not going to be in CF, THAT IS INSANE.
Again Mr. Beard defending the manager, now, why Gattis played instead of Rasmus? Answer that one because i don't get it.
You know what? So far we have no idea what will happen if they are used in those situations, why? Because Hinch has not done it. But, we have seen how Oliver Perez struggles vs right handed hitters (something to be expected). We have seen how Neshek struggles vs lefties (something to be expected, as he throws by the side). But, our manager continues to use those guys one vs righties, and the other one in the 8th and against lefties (cost us 2 games in september so far, how many more?) But, you are defending Hinch, but my question to you is, would you trust VV in close situations???? Or Feliz? That is the question.
Small sample size, but Rasmus' lifetime stats against Santana was 0-14 with 6 strike outs, so that may have had something to do with it.
And because i don't understand baseball very well, please explain this to me: Ervin Santana, splits: Vs lefties they are hitting .284 with an OPS of .869 vs righties they are hittign .265 with an OPS of .711 You could say, this year he has not pitched a lot, ok, lets go 2014 vs lefties .291 with an ops of .763 vs righties .235 with an OPS of .676 Now, my question to you Sir is, why Gattis played instead of Rasmus. My friend, i complained about this WHEN I SAW THE LINEUP, not AFTER THE FACTS. I already gave you numbers saying Rasmus is doing better in last 7 games over Gattis. We all know the day before he hit a homer and was 2 for 4 in the game. We all know he is a plus defender with plus arm in the OF. Now my question is, if you are using Tucker (which i agreed on that move ) why sit Rasmus and play Gattis????? Yes, i know nothing about baseball because I DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT MOVE. Also, as you say, i don't know much about baseball, then would you be kind and explain to me why Conger plays so much vs left handed pitchers instead of using him almost exclusively vs righties? Give me numbers, please, because i don't know much about baseball and need to learn. Tell me why Marisnick is not playing much, with his numbers in the past 15 games. Why when he plays he does not play CF? Why not play Gomez in LF and Marisnick in CF? Have you seen the games? Or only box scores????
That is a very good argument, but Rasmus is hitting lately, plus he is good defensively. But i like your argument as it makes sense, but i still want lefties in the lineup vs Santana, give me Valbuena then over Gattis. Still, i play Rasmus as his defense is very good, he would be playing in LF and Tucker DH. To tell you the truth, i am disappointed with Gattis, i was expecting a lot from him, i had him as our 4th hitter but this year he is no better than number 6 and platooning with Tucker.
I was looking at Rasmus, because i said here that he gave us important hits this year, so i went and look at him hitting with RISP, well, here are the numbers: .253 average with a .912 OPS ( a lot of walks and power) the OBP is .379.
