Just rewatched the Gomez throw, he actually fielded the ball just as Buxton rounded first. Very weak throw!
Awful at bat by average fielder Gomez, he had 2 pitches that any good average hitter would had hit the ball out of the park, and he could not do anything with those pitches.
It was awful, when i saw Bruxton going to second i felt he was crazy, then i remember who was playing centerfield
Right now, Gomez is a huge problem and an overall negative player to this team. No other player right now is hurting this team as much as Gomez because he is playing everyday and not making a positive difference. I don't see any logical reason for Gomez to continue to be the everyday CF at this point.
take into consideration that you're talking about the fastest player in the game running. the throw obviously wasn't good, but would've required precision after backhanding it while running the opposite direction to get buxton. not a gomez defender, but that was no routine play.
The thing is that when he actually does something positive his demeanor shines a negative light on something good.
Gomez needs to be moved down to 8-9 in the batting order and Marisnick needs to start playing more in CF. Gomez has some recent nice throws to home plate but he hasn't been doing anything recently
I wouldn't mind him being benched for a while. It wouldn't be like they are benching Trout or that caliber of a player.
