    Nope.

He lost all credibility with his BS on COVID. He locked down the state, told people they needed to make sacrifices and then partied in restaurants with his rich buddies.

    He is all about himself.

Imagine saying with a straight face the guy selling fake trump dollars is uncorrupt. I feel like I'm living in another galaxy where half the country is living in lala land.

Why would a crime boss allow another crime boss to squeeze him?

Really great campaign strategy. Hey I have this endorsement from a former mob boss!

No surprise here. Violent behavior is considered completely acceptable within MAGA—a feature, not a bug. The ongoing swatting and threats against prosecutors, judges, and politicians are features of a political violence mob headed by a person who endorses violence against anyone daring to hold him accountable.

It's amazing that *normal* people support violence but here we are.

In terms of personal allegiance, I think Obama is a better corrollary than Clinton. With Clinton, many people liked the idea of a strong, capable accomplished woman becoming president, but Clinton's actual personality didn't much matter. With Obama, people liked the idea of a black president, but also liked the whole deal - he was intelligent, well-spoken, and inspirational. The big difference between the allegiance to Obama and the allegiance to Trump is that Obama didn't abuse it. He didn't keep pushing the boundary, like saying he would be dictator on day 1, to get his followers to take another step down the garden path.

You're vastly overestimating how much of the country views any politicians from California, much less a slick do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do governor like Newsom.

There is no chance that any Midwestern state would support him.

LOL Maybe he was incorruptible when he was a billionaire rebuilding Manhattan. The mob never had success getting to the ultra rich.

They made their money getting to the guys that did not have multiple Lear jets.

Sammy has supported Trump for some time. Not sure what the endorsement of a guy that killed innocent people, including a kid; is really worth.

It will actually probably marginally help him. Americans no longer seem to take politics seriously and don’t think anything really impacts the world they live in.

It is going to take something really serious to happen for things to change.

I think we're seeing a realignment where older more traditionally conservative leaning folks like yourself are turning the other way as the republican party is too crazy to those folks. They have conservative values but realize trump is a danger to the nation.

The young dipshit lefties and activists are turning into MAGA while older generation isn't duped as easily as they're not in tiktok

As an alternative, maybe older voters just want to vote for the party that is NOT promising to gut SS and Medicare.

Probably so and that says a lot about where our politics are where getting an endorsement from a literal mob boss is seen as marginally good.

The weather is godawful in Iowa right now. They've gotten a lot of snow with roads closed and tomorrow night will likely be the coldest caucus night ever. Not clear how this could affect the results. Conventional wisdom is that Trump voters are more motivated than Haley or DeSantis and will turn out. Trump voters are more rural though and access to the caucus sites might be harder for rural voters.

Another X factor might be a crossover of Democrats participating in the GOP caucus.

I read that piece and this part pretty much sums up a lot of Trump's support and what is wrong with the current political culture.

"Lisa Keathly, 54, who owns two flooring businesses near Dallas, said she still wanted to support Mr. DeSantis, whom she views as more polished and less rude. But she added that she was increasingly likely to back Mr. Trump in her state’s Super Tuesday primary

She pointed to a ruling last month from Colorado’s top court to block the former president from the primary ballot, which the U.S. Supreme Court is now considering, as a moment that may have sealed her support for Mr. Trump.

“It’s a little bit like a teenager who’s rebelling — a part of me is like, Maybe I should go for Trump because everyone is telling me not to,” Ms. Keathly said. “Part of my thing is: Why are they so scared?”

She added, “Because they can’t control him.”"

There is no good rationale for Supporting Trump. So this is one of the senseless excuses people use to support the person who would head the United States.

I think Dems are underestimating how weak Biden is. And when there's only two choices . . .
