It would be nice. The Supreme Court has the opportunity to help the country move on from Trump. It wouldn't be swift or easy because his MAGA folks won't accept anything, but that will have to be solved at some point, anyway.

    You really never know.

The Lawfare podcast I listened to outlined three potential arguments to overturn Colorado. I added my own coloring to it:
    1. 1A: While there was an insurrection, Trump's involvement is not a part of it. Trump's role is considered political speech.
    2. Section 3 of the 14A is not self-executing; it requires Congress to execute it.
    3. The POTUS is not considered an "official" (as outlined in Section 3 of 14A).

Now, all of these are pretty weak, but the points were that Justices can make some potentially reasonable legalistic arguments based on those if they want to overturn Colorado.

I may be in the minority, but I'd rather keep him on the ballot because dip$hit is the easiest candidate to defeat in 2024.

The only folks gullible enough to vote for him are a hardcore idiotic minority (e.g., some posters in this thread).

Everyone else, whether conservative or liberal, possessing the capacity for abstract thought and the ability to reason and read, knows better.

You're not in the minority. Trump is the weakest republican and hell.be a convicted felon by election day. Dems would be stupid to remove him from the ballot.

I thought you were concerned about Trump being on the ballot due to gas prices?

Huh? My concern was high gas prices stemming from the ukraine war bcz of high refinery margins was going to hurt dems. Swing voters will vote for facism every day if gas prices remained high. Doesn't matter if the nominee trump or Hitler. If dems don't get interest rates down and gas prices down they'll lose.

This month gas prices have plummeted and housing rates have come down under 6.7% and consumer sentiment is at multi year high. My hypothesis was spot on?

I agree, I want him to stay on the ballot, I do think he has a much better chance then I gave him credit for because the maga`s are now just pure lies 24/7 and even people who don't want him will vote R just to vote R, dam the consequences. IMO, he should have to be convicted first although in this case they laid out the evidence to show he did which is commendable. SCOTUS will never go for this though, they wont let trump go down.......watch thomas lead the charge, his wife is probably telling him every night how trump has been wronged

    Absolutely they can.

I understand the sentiment, but I'd rather Trump was not the candidate. I'd rather face losing to a neo-con than take a remote chance of Trump winning. But I still don't think banning him from the ballot is the best way to accomplish that end.

That was a very serious question :).

Doesn’t matter what you, I, Biden, Dem leaders, anyone think. People can and do sue. CREW has had some success and is very active in suing. They will continue to do so whatever anyone think.

Does anyone know if they take him off the ballot, can the maga folks simply write his name in?

There is a downside to the Rs appealing the CO decision to the USSC. If Trump loses there, not only will he will off the general ballot on all states that pursue it, Trump can not be sworn in as POTUS.

By upholding the CO decision the USSC will be stating that Trump is not qualified to be POTUS.

Ouch. Good question, and I would hate to be the person counting write-ins. But I would bet they can at least get his last name right over 60% of the time, given marketing saturation. ;)

When you are trying to "save Democracy" by prohibiting voters from voting for their preferred candidate... and abusing the legal system to imprison your political opponent for life... then you've lost all credibility... Democrats are becoming increasingly desperate as Biden flounders and Trump rises in the polls. I'm honestly worried about an attempt on Trump's life. The sad reality is that for many liberals, killing him would have the approval of their conscience. This is how deranged they have become.

The liberals' strategy of calling Jan 6th an "insurrection" was always to build up to this moment in Colorado.... and claim the 14th amendment was in play. This was all pre-planned with a goal of kicking Trump off the ballot. Use the word insurrection over and over again in order to put their reliable voters into a trance... and repeat it enough times to where the political pawns believe it without questioning the basis. Obviously Jan 6th was not an insurrection -- protestors probably would have showed up armed if it were... and they wouldn't have just walked around the Capitol building.

It makes you wonder what else the Democrats lie about... voter fraud comes to mind. The events of Jan 6th come to mind. COVID, Russian collusion, shall I continue? They are liars, plain and simple. And the reliable liberal-voting foot soldiers need to recognize how they are being played.
