It's almost as if the refs ignored Watt. He was held on half of the plays.

That ref crew always annoys me.... they seem to focus way too much on the ticky-tack stuff (especially in the secondary), and ignore obvious egregious penalties.

Watt does get held nearly every play.

I'm so glad they put this beating on the Oilers. I guess some things never change? Ha ha. Makes it even sweeter that it was Sixpatrick that damn near got the record and decimated those sorry Oilers. Here's to you, Bud! hhahahaha

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/12/01/refo-titans-texans-week-13/

    Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB: +7.5
Breakdown: After being benched for Ryan Mallet, Ryan Fitzpatrick produced like good-Fitz on his return to the starting role. Dominating the game with crisp short passes, he also took some deep shots to De’Andre Hopkins.
Signature Stat: Fitzpatrick solved the Titans’ secondary, flashing an Accuracy Percentage of 84.8%; four of his nine incompletions where drops.
    DeAndre Hopkins, WR: +7.6
Breakdown: After the beat-down Hopkins gave the Titans’ secondary, he grade is currently tied for the best we have ever given to a wide receiver in a single game (pending mid-week reviews). Hopkins was targeted nine times and caught all nine passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. The Titans attempted to cover Hopkins with Blidi Wreh-Wilson but he was no match, giving up all four targets for 132 yards and a touchdown.
Signature Play: Q4, 11:57. Hopkins shows his well-rounded skill set as he takes a 5-yard crossing route 56 yards and sets up the Texans for another touchdown.
    J.J. Watt, DE: +10.1
Breakdown: In the run game, J.J. Watt was not a factor for most of the game as the Titans found ways to run away from him. However, he more than made his presence felt as a pass rusher where he recorded two sacks, four hits, three hurries and a forced/recovered fumble. With four games left, Watt has once again proved he is the best player in the game, now its time to see if Watt can break the +100 grade barrier on the year.
Signature Stat: Watt leads all 3-4 DE in Pass Rushing Productivity this week with a 25.9 and is third across all positions behind Aaron Lynch and Jonathan Newsome

One thing I like about Watt is he doesn't really complain about it either. He's not constantly lobbying the refs to throw flags for him. Two of those plays where beat his man around the corner and got his arm on Mettenberg but couldn't bring him down he was basically tackled from behind. The refs NEVER throw the flag when that happens, I guess because a tackle doesn't really look like a hold but it should be.

It sort of reminds me of when Yao Ming was at the top of his game. They would beat the ever loving hell out of that guy in the post and the refs just allowed it because he was so much bigger than everyone else. I think the refs let Oline guys get away with a lot more on Watt because he's so dominant regardless.

I actually saw him do it live on NFL Sunday Ticket. The confused look on his face was classic. He literally did not see the DB standing right there in front of the receiver.

I feel bad for him. Man his career diminished quickly.

Its scary to think how much more dominate Watt would be if he actually got calls.

Your absolutely right, but at the same time, you could easily flip the argument that there are plays where he should be flagged but isn't. Lets be honest here, the Mettenberger hit should have been unnecessary roughness, but he wasn't called.

It wouldn't be fair, then again he did benefit from there not being a call on the play where he hurt Mettenburger. I think if they cracked down on holding him that it would lead to at least 5 holding calls a game, every game.

Pretty sure JJ Watt has more personal foul penalties this year called on him than there have been holding penalties called on the players attempting to block him.

That penalty wasn't called because of the inept crew, along with it being Zac Mettenberger. I also thought they should have thrown a flag on the Manning hit.

That's exactly why I don't like that ref crew... they can call a subtle defensive holding penalty 30 yards away from any meaningful action, but they ignore excessive hitting/contact and obvious o-line holding penalties.

Gotta think Oakland will trade the pick if they end up at 1. Wonder how much it would cost us if we ended at 8-8.

Nothing less than a swap of 1s this year + 2 future 1s and a future 2. That's what Washington paid to get RGIII - and that was to move up four spots (IIRC). Jumping a dozen, or so, might cost even more.

(IOW, unless they want to mortgage their future, there's no way they can move up.)

Exactly... that team is not good enough on the O-line and at the skill positions to just toss a rookie QB into the fray, let alone a QB that has been propped up by a QB friendly system in college.

Bring on the next Titans failed 1st round QB...

We finally witness some Fitzmagic. What an awesome performance.

Hopkins is stepping in as the future #1 receiver. Damn good game yesterday.

Bill Obrien finally allowed Fitzpatrick to go deep. Outstanding play calling.

Watt has to be the leading candidate for the MVP award. It's amazing how he impacts the game. It's also crazy how these officials allow these O lineman to literally tackle this man and don't throw the flag.

Aaron Foster continues to show us why he is so important to this offense. I truly believe we would have won last week's game if he played.

Some would say we will go 2-2 the rest of the way losing to the Colts and Ravens. But I'm going to say we will go 4-0.

Andre Johnson may have lost a step or two on the field and may not care as much as he should about playing anymore, but I'm glad to see he's keeping up his long time Christmas tradition of giving to underprivileged children.
