Slaton really shouldn't have gone out of bounds. Here's an interesting question: do you trust Brown to kick a 45 to 50 yard FG? This is the problem -- if you line him up from 50 and he misses, the Titans take over on the 40 with 1:20 remaining, only needing to pick up about 25 yards to likely win the game themselves. If he makes it, you're in great shape... but if he misses, wow you'd be in trouble.
thats a bad injury too!! Slaton is a beast! He can handle games like this! Grind it out and pop a big one!
Agreed. Not THAt bad a throw though.. but agree on everything else. Yeah Slaton should have stayed in, but can't expect everything out of the rookie.. he's been great and broke that one, i won't complain about it. And man, Haynesworth looks like he's done with that.. looked like a season-ender. Sucks for the Titans..
But if you go for it and don't make it... that's really only a 7 yard difference between that and missing the FG. Regardless, I think they should continue to try and get the first down.... even if it means calling for a high percentage passing route that stays in bounds.
You kick the FG in that situation. Fisher is going to get berated for not do so. A 49 yard FG with a hot kicker is usually a no brainer in that situation. As for the play itself they had one-on-one coverage and the WR beat his man. Again, I would have kicked the FG but the play call itself could have worked with a better throw.
Titans defense is what got them here. They should've kicked it and trusted their defense to prevent us from getting a FG of our own. Bad call. Slaton didn't run out of bounds that time.
