wow...REALLY??? it felt like the Pujols homer to you??? that was absolutely numbing to me. this game wasn't even on the radar screen of that experience for me.
Trent Dilfer had a mediocre year and his team won the Super Bowl. Brad Johnson had a good year in 2002 and his team won the Super Bowl. Both seasons were far from great and both players had seasons clearly inferior to others by elite quarterbacks this decade. I'm asking whether the team result makes them a better quarterback. Why is it relevant in a Titans/Texans thread? It's pretty simple. A page or so back, you kept throwing around Vince's "2-0" record against the Texans. I'm attempting to show that team success doesn't reveal all that much about the individual. What's so hard to understand here?
because carson palmer had a pretty damn good year in 2002 and the point I was making is that the cat was wrong by mentioning him with trent dilfer. what's so hard to understand about that? and so what, last time I checked vy had a game winning touchdown in ot to win so apparently he was fairly relevant
I said "mediocre-to-good." I did not say that the seasons were equivalent. They are, however, linked in the sense that both are generally regarded as clearly inferior to most other Super Bowl winning quarterbacks this decade (Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning).
KY wouldn't have had the 280 passing yards that beat us. I wish he would have played. That was good strategy by Fisher.
the only superbowl season brady even had a comparable rating to johnson's rating in his superbowl season was the last.
As much as I argue in favor of it, QB rating also has a limited scope (though not nearly as much as W/L record). If you want to argue that Brad Johnson's 2002 season was on par with the level of Tom Brady, go for it... but I think you'll have a hard time making that sale.
It was a good season, as I said from the beginning. But Brad Johnson isn't the playmaker Brady is or was, and I don't think that's a minority opinion.
My God! The numbers from yesterday are absolutely awful as Zachary Levine points out in today's Chronicle: Running Game Time of Possession Here's the link to Zachary's article: http://blogs.chron.com/unofficialscorer/2007/10/texans_stat_report_i_want_to_t.html And here's the link to that YouTube video of that Plano East vs. John Tyler HS football game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHkABO0VwCg Folks up here still talk about that game to this day...
the lack of smack talking from Titans fans (i really expected a lot more) leads me to conclude that it's mostly about Vince Young for them. it's not a knock on fandom, just a nice observation. if he'd played, this thread would be a lot uglier.
Yeah, I'm surprised. Even mrdave actually had a post in here that I agreed with. With the exception of pgabriel, who really seems to be on a rampage today (even more than normally, I mean), I haven't heard much from the VY/titan/anti-Texan or whatever fans today.
yes, because my whole point is that the texans suck and the titans don't. that's not even the point of the posts, i guess if i post in the titans/texans thread i'm running smack. if you're going to reference my post at least be fair. the whole argument is about brad johnson
We disagree on a lot of things, but I'm with you here. I predicted 8 and 8 for my team. It's not looking good.
What offseason was it where the Rockets added DA and some others and on paper were looking so good headed into the season, only to drop turds all through the winter? Man, after the Astros and Texans taking dumps all over Houston and all over the nation, I sure hope the Rockets kick butt and take names. I don't know if I can handle *all* of our teams sucking.
I still dont know how to react to yesterdays game, it was the hardest thing for me to watch on tv. i know i shouldnt have left the game early but it really was out of hand and boring. I still have a hard time celebrating the win because of the way we let the texans back in it, and I just dont understand it. On another note I will admit I wasnt that upset when I heard/accepted VY was the emergency qb because it gave me as a titan fan, an escape in case they lost. I could be like well our starting qb didnt play so I cant be too mad, blah blah..yes thats lame but just bein honest here Also as much as I admit to being a huge VY fan, but like i have pointed out before I am not just a Titans fan because of him (but that shouldnt matter), and know I can be biased, but I did/still do have big expectations for the titans this year, however their defense has blown me away. #1 rush defense this year so far, and without pacman the entire defense has really stepped up. The way their o-line and d-line has played really makes me excited at the prospects of making it to playoffs with a great record like 11-5 (yes i know thats optimistic). From this thread i dont see many texans fans saying they were devastated with the loss, I guess because they were playing so bad for 3 quarters? On flip side i really cant describe how i wouldve felt if the texans wouldve hung on and pulled out the win...sorry if this post made no sense
