sometimes, (actually a lot of times,) i wished we never had the number 1 pick. I wish we beat the 49ers. That way, we didn't have to deal with this bull****.

I also wish Vince Young could of gone to any other team except the Saints, the Cowboys and the Titans.

I'd like to see how many of you guys say you were life long St. Louis Rams fan, or life long Cincinatti Bengals fans, or Jacksonville Jaguars fans, or life long Seattle Seahawks fans, or life long Arizona Cardinal fans.

I know in some past threads, people have said they will cheer for whatever team that VY lands with. I guess I can respect that. It's better than saying, oh i've been a fan of the Oilers since 1422. I was there at the dome when that happened. I was there at old Jeppy stadium swatting mosquitos in the 20 degree frozen tundra of Houston.

The NFL was built on marketing teams, not players. That was the NBA's "downfall."

When you think Green bay, you think of the Frozen Tundra. When you think of Pittsburgh, you think of defense and blue collar fans. When you think of the Bears you think of the defense.

I want to play football in the park next saturday.

    Who is down?

Because they didn't grow up with the Texans. There's no memories, no connection, and no tradition. They've done nothing to win fans, and as far as I'm concerned they're nothing more than an inept franchise that has no clue how to draft. Then there's this:

Look at the Astros -> I remember going to the Astrodome with my dad and sitting in the $1 pavillion seats and watching guys like Nolan Ryan, Mike Scott, Billy Doran, etc. I remember the frenzy after the Rockets' championship run, and Hakeem is my favorite athlete of all time.

I've been following Selvin since his High School days.

That's why I keep on sniffing his jock strap that I stole from him in High School.

Building up a fanbase will take time.

The oilers were a new team. The bears, the giants, the cowgirls, the eagles, the dolphins were new teams one time.

That's right, he's from Jersey Village. Hopefully he does well in Denver -> at Texas he was little more than an injury-prone fumbler.

i realize wins will bring in fans, but why do you need tradition or memories to root for a team that represents your city?

what tradition was there BEFORE the Rockets won their championships? if you just say, you'll only root for a team if they are winning, i can respect that at least you're honest.

but i guess your stance is, do something for me first before i give you my loyalty.

am i happy with the way things are going with the Texans? hell no. i'm not going to hope they always lose b/c of it.

    knock out punch. :(

They won the first 8 rounds.

then we won the next 3 rounds.

we were winning the last round and were going to KO them, but they got a good punch in.

Did you're dad grow up with the Astros? They haven't exactly had a history loaded with success. VYOFs are setting a bad president for their kids. RESPECT FOR YOUR HOMETOWN TEAM! All franchises need pioneering fans, don't deny the city of Houston that.

Texans didn't appear until I went away for college in UT. Then they proceed to pass on the player that would've made me a Texans fan. I don't root against the Texans, I just root for the Titans. I feel no connection to the Texans, I atleast feel some connection to the Titans.

Edit: Also didn't the owner the Texans block Les from getting a NHL team?

You do realize that we have a new staff right?

You don't know what you are talking about guy. Demeco Ryans was the defensive rookie of the year last season. We drafted him buddy.

We are headed in the right direction now. Who knows what our record could be if AJ could have been healthy. You're simply a hater and you need to get of Vince's jock.

You root for a team owned by Bud Adams. Don't play the my-owner-is-better-than-yours card. If you are willing to get in bed with *that* then you don't have the right to be judgmental about anybody.

Wrong, sir! Wrong! Under section 37B of the contract signed by him, it states quite clearly that all offers shall become null and void if - and you can read it for yourself in this photostatic copy - "I, the undersigned, shall forfeit all rights, privileges, and licenses herein and herein contained," et cetera, et cetera...”Fax mentis incendium gloria cultum," et cetera, et cetera...”Memo bis punitor delicatum!" It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal! Bud Adams stole the Houston Oilers. Vince Young fans did things onto the ceiling which now has to be washed and sterilized, so you get nothing! You lose! Good day sir!

Holy crap...They actually showed it in Dallas and what a comeback...Almost perfect ending...Although it sux, it is promising as the Texans of old never would have gotten the lead...

I do worry about the Defense not being able to stop an aging veteran like Collins..No pressure, no shut-down corner when it counted...
