Overall, Astros are playing better ball. Offense looks better even though we got 2 runs from errors tonight. Really need Diaz, yordan, and Walker to get hot. The rotation is good and the pen is good (Ort should improve on his first outing)
Excellent game. Lots of offense, some good D, and Ort will get it together I’m not worried. Great start !
Click thought they were - Crane agreed with you - Click no longer has a job with the Astros. The Astros did lose who would have be their starting left fielder in the Vazquez trade though.
In late night mlb action, I've encountered this description on the app: Max Muncy flies out sharply to second baseman Otto Lopez. Okaaaaay...... Maybe they are using boomerangs in the game.
Ngl… after Pena hit in the leadoff spot yesterday, i was hoping they would keep him slotted there (even w Tuve getting back to work today). THIS lineup tonight, I can absolutely support as the “A-1” lineup -- maybe swap in/out some OF… but, smart moving Altuve to 2 bc the pitcher has to readjust after throwing to a “normal-sized” hitter— if it aint broke, dont try to fix it.
They were the 2 best additions available at the deadline at positions the Astros needed additions to at the deadline. ...and they helped the Stros win a World Series
There is a lot more to that story - including an owner that could be overbearing at the deadline and an arrogant GM that was dismissive of the owners concern and misread the market and whom would be available for the Astros to add. Throw in drama with Wilson Contreras and Jose Urquidy and there wasn’t a lot left to be said between the owner and GM. Click did manage to self sabotage at the winter meetings - and Crane’s claim that he didn’t fire Click when he offered him a one year deal at the same pay - summed up why Click and Crane will never share an Uber
How I feel until further notice. Christian Javier was the same for awhile and turned that around somewhat… maybe Blanco can do the same, but I have seen some bad luck and poor pitch choices from him this season.
I agree, but I would much prefer Rogers to Dubon. The baselines are similar at worst, and need to see if there is upside there. Regardless, my main lineup ask is “pick one and stick with it.” Daily juggling is just mental masterbation from a manager who is overthinking things.
I like Pena leading off, read an article that Altuve asked to be moved down so he could have 10 extra seconds to get ready to bat.......odd because that would only apply to the first at bat in the first inning at home. IMO not good or bad, just an odd request, but hey, he did hit a HR last night so maybe it's a good thing
