Would be happy with either one. We took one big step in the right direction by DFAing Jbreu. We need to do more. When Tucker gets back do we move him to cleanup position and leave Bregman in two spot? Cleanup has been a curse this year but someone needs to hit there. Whatever we do maybe we should stick with the same lineup for a while. We need small wins first on the way to 89 or 90 wins. We need to pass the Rangers and take over 2nd place. Then we need to get to .500. Whatever comes first is fine by me. As long as we show a sense of urgency and make it happen. Those two things need to happen first and before the All-Star break if we are going to go anywhere this year. Need to fix Framer and Pressley. I just can't buy into that they both crap the bed as often as they do. Framer looks like a Cy Young candidate but . at times goes into total meltdown. We need to find a way to use Pressley in a way where he best helps the team. Between the two of them they have probably cost us at least 10 games this year. There are more issues that need to be fixed but these need to be addressed if we are going to finish the year anywhere near 90 wins. IMO it is not as much luck as it is lack of smart management.
His vesting clause for next season is mutual. Even if he reaches the appearances the Astros can decline the option with a 2 mil buyout.
As Id mentioned, the option automatically vests if he hits 50 appearances this year. It mentions this on Spotrac, right below where it mentions the $2M buyout.
It also says the option is mutual. Why would there be a 2 mil buyout? If it vests automatically on appearances for '23 + '24 then why say it's mutual and again why have the 2 mil buyout? Would like further clarification on how this is actually structured.
I believe the option is there regardless of number of appearances. If he has less than 50 appearances, then the option is mutual, and you have the $2M buyout. If he hits the 50 threshold, then the option automatically vests and the mutual part is no longer in play.
Justin Verlander was scratched from his scheduled start against the Tigers on Saturday with what the Astros termed "neck discomfort."

Doesn't Pressly's contract vest into a mutual option? Where the club would still be able to decline it if he never turns it around
